Service Unavailable

Took a power hit. My server that was streaming no longer worked. Uninstalled WinAMP2.x, and downloaded WinAMP3. Downloaded and installed Shoutcast server 1.8.9.

I start the server up on port 8000. Run my WinAMP .M3U playlist. I no longer get a dialog box that allows me to connect the WinAMp stream to the server. Am I to assume this is no longer necessary with WinAMP3? So, I try to connect from a client and get "Service Unavailable 401." I can ping the server from the client fine. I have tried this from a WinAMp 2.x and WinAMP3 client as well, same result.

Please help me?

Regards,

Can I stream SHOUTcast?
Currently there is no SHOUTcast DSP plug for Winamp3. Don't expect seeing one any time soon either. A SHOUTcaster component should be available someday. For now you can use the SHOUTcast DSP from Winamp2 and Winamp2 Plug-in Manager. If you have problems try the Oddcast DSP.

OK. So, now I uninstalled WinAMP 3. I installed WinAMP 2.76. I installed the DSP plug in 1.8.2b. I configured the DSP in WinAMP to connect the stream to the server and it is sending bytes. Went to my client, and tried URL'ing to the server and I'm getting wierdness.

The prebuffering is going very slow. Stops at about 27%. I go to the server and it first was complaining about yp.shoutcast.com. So, I disabled the yellow pages. Now, when my client tries to connect, the server says he's starting the stream, but fails after 62 seconds. This just repeats on the server starting...closed...starting...closed.

One turn your yellowpages back on.

Two turn down your bit rate some it should fix the buffering. I run mine at 64 mono

I tried the settings you suggested, no change in behavior.

I should also note this server is being used on an intranet, a totally isolated network, and would not be able to reolve the connection to yp.shoutcast.com.

I've been without music at work for a couple of weeks now. I'm starting to get the shakes. You GOTTA help a brother out.

B-)
