Silence
Love MilkDrop! Geiss is helping pioneer a new art form.
Here's my request (I hope it gets lots of support): Implement a silence threshold (preferably adjustable) that causes any graphics to fade or disolve when the audio input drops below a certain level. Anything below that level would be considered 'silence', and therefore the screen would be blank. The purpose for having the threshhold adjustable would be to take into account any little buzzes or pops that may be feeding into the audio input. This would be helpful to DJs, and more asthetically pleasing to the at home users as well. Thanks

Agree - also basic/advance options
I think that is a great idea. I often find that I don't get a blank screen when the music has gone silent which is what I am trying to achieve. You have my backing on this - again though, only if you can turn the feature on and off.
Also, maybe if there are going to be loads of new features in the next version of MD - consider having the ability to switch from basic to advanced set-up: a bit like the way you can in icq. Don't want to overwhelm newbies! |

Hi again.
I tried to edit my original post to include this, but you only get 180 minutes to do that. But consider this an addendum anyway. In addition to a fade or blackout feature during silence. It might be nice to have a 'freeze' option. So instead of going black, the current image would freeze just as it does when Winamp is stopped. Idealy, it could be adjustable to freeze as soon as the sound drops out (hard-freeze), or it could slow to a freeze (soft-freeze). This feature could also be weighted against the blackout feature to occure randomly. This would add a new dynamic to MilkDrop -much like it's current ability to do smooth or hard transitions from patch to patch. Hopefully this idea is worth doing. Thanks |
