Indeed they are. I remember back when the Win98 gui was all available to Windows users and those look alike images popped up on the net. Countless people were mislead thinking their 'Internet was not optimized' or a few saying 'You may have a virus on your system', then leading the user to click the link and a virus or worm would be put on thier computer unknowingly. These ads are truly getting lame.

Does anyone really believe that there is a dialog box which is part of WinXP with an option to 'Prevent Crashes Where Possible'? That looks more like a piece of satire than an ad to me

I really fucking hate those ads though. And these ads which say 'Your computer is broadcasting an IP address!!' Of course it's broadcasting a bloody IP address, how else could you have supplied me with the page. These ads must seriously mislead so many people.

Once all the old people in the world and the technically inept young die through overloading their little minds with complicated stuff, it'll just people who know about computers left. Then there'll be no problem. But I do think my parents would and do fall for that kind of thing all the time. Even my Mum who's only using win98.
