The current version of the DSP, 1.8.2b can have up to 5 encoders running at the same time for 5 different servers, which is nice for having various bitrates.
The problem I have with this DSP plugin? Audio quality sucks so bad, it's nearly impossible to run a station and expect listeners to stick around for music in a can.
I understand that the LAME codec is part of the DSP so to avoid license issues with Fraunhaufer, and that's understandable.
But what about those of us that bought our codecs? From what I have been able to gather, we have to use the embedded LAME codec, and have no choice in what we use.
Can the next version allow the user the choice of using the default codec or one they provide?
Right now, to stream with my Fraunhaufer, I need to run multiple winamps on the same PC and then stream out to several servers at different bitrates while using old 1.8.0.
Bottom line: more functionallity and control over codecs and multiple bitrates.
I've got 2 servers running 300 max listeners each, and it's not a good thing to have a listening winamp at another location pull a stream and rebroadcast it. If it could be done from the source, then MUCHO better without more than one winamp.
