An Easier Skin

ok, im trying to learn how to code and it is becoming very difficult with all of the drawers i put in my first skin. so what im gonna do is make a skin that is very very basic and learn how to code a basic one first.

tell me what you think of it. im not going to add too much to it, but i want it to look pretty nice.

looks nice so far. Are you going to put buttons on the LCD or the border?

My only comment would be to tone down the bevel a bit.

an updated picture

nice idea. but the M,X,T,E are out of place. maybe make them into buttons? some of the arrows look like they are cut off. it would be really cool if the "wings" would open into drawers when clicked on.

Blah!

would definently look better with buttons in the corners. And a little more glass over the display.

Dont take this the wrong way, but i think you could improve the visuals a bit. It looks like just a chrome filter, and doesnt really look 'right'. The buttons could use some more work too.

i know... its just that i want to make a skin that is simple so i can spend more time learning how to code. i dont want to put that much time in the grafix.
but thanks for the comment, i just want to learn how to code, then start making really cool looking skins.

its the same thing with noise...not too say its bad, just kind of boring

i suggest starting from scratch...with a design in mind so you dont just end up with two squares. good luck

Ok, im a coding n00b, but heres what i used for ensidal.

Put this in player-normal.xml

code:
<!-- Visualzation -->
<vis
id="vis"
x="48" y="76"
w="96" h="24"
colorbandpeak="30,30,30"
colorband1="99,99,99"
colorband2="30,30,30"
colorband3="99,99,99"
colorband4="30,30,30"
colorband5="99,99,99"
colorband6="30,30,30"
colorband7="99,99,99"
colorband8="30,30,30"
colorband9="99,99,99"
colorband10="30,30,30"
colorband11="99,99,99"
colorband12="30,30,30"
colorband13="99,99,99"
colorband14="30,30,30"
colorband15="99,99,99"
colorband16="30,30,30"
/>

You'll need to put in your co-ords etc. and change the colorbands to "0,0,0" to make them solid black.

Hope that helps.

you can either find a ttf font you like an include it or grab the default bitmap font from the default skin and modify it.
code:

<elemnts>
<bitmapfont id="player.BIGNUM" file="player/numfont.png" charwidth="9" charheight="13" hspacing="3" vspacing="1"/>
OR
<truetypefont id="player.gamma" file="player/gamma.ttf"/>
</elements>

<text
id="songticker" ticker="1"
display="songname" default="" showlen="1"
x="26" y="8"
w="97" h="19"
font="player.PAPYRUS" fontsize="18" color="200,90,0"
/>

then all you do is where an object says font="", put your font id in.

Blah!

i would imagine it would be
code:

<truetypefont id="arial.black " file="player/arial black.ttf"/>

if not you can rename the font file to arial_black.ttf.

Blah!
