Just want to get your oppinions on my latest skin KalaK amp. It had just been lying around for over a month half finished - I kinda lost interrest in finishing it back then (needed the break). But now it's done. It's still not published here but you can check it out here. Hope you dig it!...those of you who are into the typical metal stereo large lcd stuff!! (specially you xenosomething) haha screen: |

I remember this one, and it looks great.
I really like the eq animations, the glow when the cbuttons are pressed, and that litte face in the eq. Apart from the _-X buttons everythings clearly labelled, so its really easy to use. Only thing i could find that could be improved is that there doesnt seem to be a transitional image when the on/auto buttons in the eq are pressed, but thats not a major problem. Great stuff, hope to see more. ![]() P.s. are you still working on that wa3 skin you started a while back? The one that looks a bit like your sig image. [edit] Just noticed that mikro shows up the template, probably would be best if you removed mikro.bmp or made up a quick mikro skin to match. [/edit] |

I don't like the EQ bars that much - to me, they are too square and 'grid-like' for what is otherwise a softly contoured and gently lit-up skin - and the movement of the animation seems a little choppy. But it's still awesome - one of the slickest and best looking metal/hifi skins I've seen - I'll enjoy it very much
![]() But there are a few bugs. Firstly, I don't understand why the balance meter says L when the balance is at the right, and R when it is at the left The other two 'bugs' that I've seen are quite common ones: neglecting to skin the clutter-bar-when-off and the vis-peaks. Easy to fix: See points 8 & 10 of my tips&tricks tute Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny. Thanks for the comments
Atmo I did some last minute changes to the eq buttons so I choosed the easy way out and used the same images for the transitional image - not a big deal as you mention ![]() Quote:

just wondering about the technic you used to animate your sig? how did u get that liquid but viscuss look and that nice shimmer. is it just airbrush and the "finger" tool to pull the image forward or is there more to it than that cuz i live the look of it

Heh, that's a darn good skin there. I like it. I may start posting much more with this here quick reply feature. Why didn't they think of this earlier?

hmm..hope this isn't too confusing.. The oval animated area is a layerset containing 10 (ten frames in this case because of the looping) nudged frames of vertical white lines which each has applied a displacement map which is a seperate b/w copy of the center oval area applied with a subtle blur. Each line layer have the filter:wind applied for the shimmer effect. This layerset can then have different blendmodes for different effects. On top of the layerset there's a b/w gradient map that again can be set to the different blend modes you have in PS. On top of all that there's a highlight 'glass' layer as touch up effect. An oval layermask was then applied to the layerset containing the lines to mask out the anim. that's basically it. The important part is to use displacement maps so the anims aren't flat, but follow the curves of your shape. The attached image is the old 'simple' version of my sig - it shows better what's going on. You just made me make meself an avatar! lol

I finally got around to downloading this skin, and it all great
except for crap's sake, crop the posbar! ![]() hehe... it looks ok now, but I think it has potential to be better, because you don't have to havve that big bulky button [website](foomonkey)|(Winamp|DevArt)[skins] I'm so hip I have trouble seeing over my pelvis. Jellby's Skiners' Atlas |
