I saw it two nights ago and I thought it was awesome. I have the first one on DVD as well and seeing the Two Towers has encouraged me to read the Trilogy again (I read through it years ago but I want to read it again with a more educated and mature mind) luckily I got the most recent editions for my birthday last year, mine were getting rather ratty. Great movie, but the books will ALWAYS be better.

I will be avoiding this movie like smallpox. Is there an LOTR vaccine avaiable?

Fantasy. Pfhhh... I see it and I think of people with bad haircuts surrounded by paintings of Unicorns on black felt and pewter merlins holding lead-crystal balls, sitting at a table playing dungeons and dragons, rolling 8 sided dies and casting spells on each other.

Yes, so it was predicted, this decade has began to long for the decade before the previous, and the 80's have returned in full force. Aesthetically, this decade is going to be an insalvagable wreck.

I think I will be saving my money and see About Schmidt.

They should have cool hair like Aragorn, or Legolas, or even Faramir.

close to the book, except for the size of the helm's deep battle and Faramir trying to take the ring rather than not.

Its still good cos they were all filmed at the same time, and theyre not gonna differ much in quality.

That's crazy talk...filming 3 such movies simultaneously would surely drive the actors insane. I say they were filmed sequentially from start to finish.

A 9 hour movie would be impossible for people with jobs to see, not to mention that it would be incredibly difficult for theatres to get people in early during slow matinee hours. No, not much profit to be made.

By the way, IMIO, the movie was 2.5 hours of filler and dreck.... so many inconsequential events just like the first one that have nothing to do with the outcome... and there is an interesting battle at the end, not counting the appalling enviromentalist wet dream scene where the trees attack the industrial complex.

I read the first book (The Fellowship) for pleasure and the end left me with no complusion whatsoever to read the rest. And now I feel more justified then ever with that decision.

well sucks to them then...it is a well established fact that people without jobs shall inherit the earth.

Aww...you just say that because you wanted to see all the people get enslaved and then sent to the "industrial complex" to make inferior quality electronics and trendy tennis shoes for pennies an hour while the goods they produced were sold on the market for an overinflated price of many times what they cost to produce, causing the rich slave drivers to get even richer...it's not the movie's fault that you were expecting to see such sadism, so you shouldn't blame the movie for not including it.

You may interested to know Sexrex, that the "wet dream scene" was a part of the book

The actual acting scenes were all done over the same period, the last year was spent editing and doing the CGI for the film, such as laying Gollum over Andy Serkis. The actual footage of the human actors is quite old.

I've never read the books (shame on me, I bought them now and I'll read them I promise) but what I didn't like in that movie was that the dwarf was always made fun of. Is it like that in the books too? I would like to know because I didn't think it fit.
Overall I really liked the movie (had someone with me who read the book and explained things to me & gave me more facts)!

The reason I went and saw it was for the action. Movies live up good to the action. Yet it waddled around the book.
Its an okay movie.

Having seen The Fellowship on Boxing Day last year, I figured I should see this nezt one on Boxing Day, too, so I did.

I'm not sure if I was asleep during the majority of the first one, maybe distracted or something, but I left with the distinct impression that it had done a degree of justice to the book. With the obvious exception of Arwen playing a greatly over-stated role, I thought it was an ok flick.

The Two Towers sucked ass. Is Gimli a fucking comic relief character or what? Jesus Christ, Peter Jackson, have some fucking respect! It's the LORD OF THE RINGS for christ's sake. You don't ADD SHIT to the Lord of the Rings. You JUST DON'T DO THAT. Samwise Gamgee rabitting on about how their quest just might be one of those things that are "worth fighting for".. fuck that.

If I saw Peter Jackson in the street I'd punch him in the fucking face. Depending on when he next visits Australia, I might get my chance soon. Fucking cunt.

Faramir. Gimli. Gollum. Treebeard. Whoever that fucking mother and kids were. The younger ent who doesn't warrant even a mention. The list of poorly-portrayed characters goes on.

Fucking shit fuck ass. I really hate this movie.

Oh, and let's have Strider fall off some fucking cliff, and be saved by a dream or something from Arwen, shall we? No, we fucking shall not.

imho.

Don't judge a book by its cinema adaptation.
