1280x1024 x 32bit x 100Hz

Refreshrate is how many times in a second your monitor updates the picture. I run 100 Hz atm, meaning the picture is drawn 100 times a second.

Let's say you run a 1Hz monitor, that means your picuture is updated only 1 time a second! There are no monitors that have this kinda refreshrate, but I used it to state it as an example.

Framerate of games and other graphical media on the computer is not the same as Refreshrate.

The picture is updated with the default framerate no matter what your computer can do with graphics and frames.

Higher refreshrate you have, there is less of chance your eyes gets tired of watching the screen.

Also, at lower refreshrates, you can mount your eyes at something on either sides of the monitor to get the monitor out of focus (though still in sight), and you can see the refreshrate much like seeing a monitor on an old movie.

You have really good eyesight.

I'd prefer 1600x1200 to see more data on the screen, but anything more than 1280x1024 on my 16.1" screen bothers my eyes. One day I'll come off a grand and get a nice 19"+ TFT monitor.

That's a strange resolution Oo Do you use some sort of wide screen? The ratio would be very wide if the pixels are kept intact square...

Chris, you really need to experience what a monitor looks like in high-res. You'll never go back to 1024x768 again.

This is a sig of some nature.

At school I use 1024x768x32 (16 bit by default so I change it to 32) but at home I use 1280x1024x32 @ 75Hz on my 17" TFT screen (max res and refresh rate). Only a few things are too small to read at this size so I will often increase the text size in Firefox to make it readable.

Just got 2 17" pivot LCDs (portrait or landscape)...

Each is set for 1280x1024 on a dual screen desktop.
So I can have ...
2560x1024
2048x1280
one screen 1280x1024 and one 1024x1280 which makes a kinda wierd 'L' shaped desktop.

Dual screen portrait mode is real cool for editing two documents at once 'cuz you can see two whole pages at 100% resolution.
