what do I do with this??
My motherboard (Asus A7V333) has a connector on it for SMC/SD/MS cards; and it also has drivers for the reader....but, where's the hardware to hook the smc card to the motherboard? I can't find anything anywhere online, nor are any store sites helpful....but I'd really like to have the smc reader because my mp3 player uses smc cards so before I buy it one (it has built in memory and an smc slot..so I don't NEED the reader, but it'd be helpful)
for those who don't know, smc = smart media card, sd = secure digital, ms = memory stick

SMC is also a manufacturer of rather crappy routers. I use one (not by choice) and thus cannot use a software firewall on any of my computers.

it would be easier, faster., and cheaper to buy a usb card reader, at least then when you ever upgrade, you'd still be able to use the card reader, that cost around $18

the motherboard and part manufacturer SOYO makes things called "sigma boxes" or something like that. check out www.soyo.com , choose your country, and go to products.

Go with a USB multi-card reader, and you'll be good to go. "Welcome to the Island of people who know too much."..."Did you really think balloons would stop him?!" See what I'm listening too. |

I'm in Canada so the cheapest smartmedia card reader is around $40 (plus taxes) at normal stores...I suspect I could get it for cheaper at promax...but that's mucho effort
also, I would much, MUCH prefer to have an internal reader, as opposed to external...tryin to keep clutter to a minimum here I had seen those sigma boxes before, but even those are $30 US.....and I'd hafta order online and such I was hoping there would just be some small 5 1/4 inch bay type thing that would plug right into the mobo so I can use it's built in stuff

hrm, n/m
seems it's an asus-made product (damn it's impossible to find anything on that site); and that I seem to have put a M where it shouldn't have been, it's a smart card reader as opposed to a smartmedia card reader damn. although, if anyone does know of any good internal SMC readers I'd love to see em....especially if they have a canadian distributor [edit] seems as if I'm in luck, soyo has 2 dealers near my house (Well, relatively).....must find prices more suggestions more than welcome tho....
