My best friend tried to drive herself home once after many strong drinks at some random guys' house. She ended up taking out several large trees, being thrown through her windshield, fracturing her pelvis, smashing her hand and was bedridden for weeks. We're thankful she's still with us and no one else was involved.
Trust me on this, don't drink and drive. Stay where you are, call a cab, your parents, or a sober friend. But don't get behind the wheel. -=Gonzotek=- But I'm feeling much better now. |

He uses statistics like a drunk uses lamp-posts: for support, not illumination. |

I guess we never think about the ones that DON'T die from being hit... to me, that's even worse. I hope someday people will get the message. It's so stupid to even try to drive if you're drunk, when there are SO many other ways of getting to where you need to go.

omfg!
Well, I live in a state where the highways, and native americans..indians wreck their vehicles into oncoming traffic, and kill people. Most drunkards here are of lower class families, and with past history of crime. ![]() I feel so bad about it, and everytime I hear about it on the news, I just turn it off. Its not worth seeing the crumpled up vechicle(s) from above the helicopter, or from a news crew's perspective. I just wish nothing of this nature would happen, I would hate being in a drunk driving accident. |

i think everyoneone knows someone or IS someone who has been in a car crash, they aint good to say the least. think for a second why EVERYONE who talks about them feels so strongly about it, there is a very basic reason behind it

That leads to my next question: Should it be a death penalty for drinking and driving, and causing fatal injury or injuries? Thats what the sentence should be to blast a shockwave around those who drink intoxicated. That will teach anyone that drinking and driving is a serious crime that once you drunk, and are behind the wheel...it is an intent to cause serious harm to you, and to others that share the same road.

I don't think there should be a death penalty, but there should definitely be jail time. Basically if you're drunk, then you're impaired and can't really make a good judgement as to whether or not you can drive, so it's kind of like pleading insanity at the time.

Hmm... heres a htought, just don't drink at all! It has few if any benefits, and wastes your money, plus you get a hangover if you overdo it. Drinking definitely sounds like a cool thing to do to me. =/

First you never did make a good judgement by drinking in the first place. So how can it be that in a car you make any good judgements. Its like saying you are driving with little sleep. That wasn't a good judgement thinking of driving while sleepy. Yet people have been convicted of causing fatal accidents that way.

i wouldn't say drinking was a bad judgement in itself - but driving while under the influence is a bad judgement, yes. drinking so far from home that you need to drive back is a bad judgement too. but some people are just idiots.

Drinking far from home is ok as long as you can pick up a hot bed fellow who lives close by.
