Does Ogg Vorbis use less bandwidth than MP3?

Can I use this as an alternative to broadcasting MP3? I am trying to fit more users on my connection than MP3 would allow.

theoretically it can, you will need icecast2 to broadcast, shoutcast does not fully support this format at this time.
