hi, I'm new to shoutcast i have a question:

i tried my new server with a friend and he told me that when he connects to my ip winamp says: UNNAMED SERVER - Song title

The raio works correctly but i would like to know how i can change that "UNNAMED SERVER" with a personal MOTD. and i would like to know if i can give friends an addres as SOMETHING.SOMETHING.SOMETHING instead of MY_IP:8000

I also remember that a friend of mine who some time ago war shoutcasting told me an URL where i had to go and there i clicked on the link LISTEN to listen his radio. How can i do this with my radio ?

Check out the results from a SHOUTcast forum search on 'unnamed server'.

Look for a post by bigash titled...
!!!!Changing station name!!!!!

2.
If you have registered a domian name (such as foo.bar.com) and the DNS A records for that name point to your ip, then you can give out http://foo.bar.com:PORT
As a cheaper solution, you can get a static name at http://www.no-ip.com (whether you have a dynamic ip or not).

DNAS link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport
Listen link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport/listen.pls

Just replace yourDNASip with the ip of the DNAS (SHOUTcast server) and yourDNASport with the DNAS port (default is 8000)

And/Or replace yourDNASip with your ip resolvable domain name.

hey thank u very much for answering but i have a question.

I registered one of the free accounts in www.no-ip.com but every time i reconnect to the internet before opening my radio i have to change the ip in my account as my ip changes! Is there a way to avoid this or i have to modify my accout every time ?

That is exactly what no-ip is for.

You need to run their dynamic DNS update client.
