I bought morrowind and thought it was cool except for one thing. It wasn't multiplayer. Also, the part of the game where you have to go around and get "votes" or whatever to become the next messiah really really sucks. I got so bored halfway through that part that I just quit.

Man, if games would never end, we'd have another EverQuest epidemic again. I think that the idea has a lot of potential, but I think games should end at some time. :/ Whatever, I'd buy a game that never ended to see how it is.

Everquest is still huge. Especially with the releasal of the new game. Also Counter Strike which is over 3 Years old still has over 25,000 players on it daily. A game that would never end would probably be a form of Everquest, or the new StarWars came that is coming out. So its nothing new really. Also you could say Everquest is a game that 'never ends' because there is alway something new to do on it.

those games where you keep up a ball and theres an infinite ammount that you can get are neverending.
But anyone who sat there for their whole life clicking on the same thing over and over has about the same brain capacity as the average bacteria cell. Besides a real game that never ended would not be great, youd never get that sense of satisfaction you get when you clear a really hard game after about a month.

I don't really see the point of a never-ending game. For every beginning there should be an end, for without it you will eventually run out of things to do(unless there are inifinite possibilities). The best that this kind of game can get is like Diablo II and other similar games, where there is a definite ending point(killing diablo - or mephisto in the expansion), but you can still keep on playing having many more different experiences(especially in multiplayer).
The truly greatest game of all is life, as long as you decide to play the game and not just spectate. |

my personal favroute game is either dungeon keeper but nobody gives a crap.
According to einsteins theory, there is a beginning but no end, but how the hell does he know, but its only a theory.

You must admit though that it would be a technological and programming feat to be able to make an AI that can keep games going forever because nothing is truely ever finished. If you could do that, the games could probably be about 1 GB in size, and yet could have the vast expansiveness of 20GB, using the Star Wars Galaxies game as an example. Whole worlds were created in a universe, etc...
Raz - It's only a theory because no one can live forever.

Yeah, it would be amazing AI, but playability would be low, because after a few hours you would find yourself doing things that you just did a while ago(kinda like in real life except you can't do as much to "spice it up").
