Who Owns Shoutcast?

Shoutcast is a great place for broadcasters and listeners alike - and long may it remain the great free resource that it is.

I am a journalist writing for a major news publication in Europe and would like to answers to some rather basic questions.

I would like to know who owns this service (is it independent of corporate interests)? I have heard that AOL owns both SHOUTCAST and WINAMP and is also responsible for paying for the bandwidth and royalty fees of Digitally Imported, one of the major broadcasters using this service.

Anyone know?

Thanks

As stated at SHOUTcast's homepage, "SHOUTcast is Nullsoft's Free Winamp-based distributed streaming audio system ...".

Nullsoft is owned by AOL.
