cdrom problems

I have an old cdrom that can't read cdrws, and I was wondering why. Is there a way to burn them so they work with that cdrom?

How old? What speed? Burn them at a low speed... if your cdrom can only read at 4x, don't burn them at 16x.

What program are you using to write them with?

Most come with a seperate utility that allows older CDROMs to read CDRW. For instance, Easy CD Creater installs the UDF drivers for your CDRom.

It most likely CAN read CD-RWs (unless it's like a 10 year old drive) but can only read cd's (CD-R and CD-RW alike) that were burned at a speed that the CD-ROM drive is capable of reading.

See what I'm listening too.

Check if the CD-ROM drive is multi-read capable. All the work in the world isn't going to do you any good if the mechanism for reading CD-RW's simply isn't there.

One thing you can try is to finalize the CD's. This works sometimes.

Alright. I would truly reccommend buying a new cd-rom. 4x!?! 52x drives are real cheap right now.
