Multiple bitrates etc.
Let´s assume you're broadcasting with one single stream at a 56 kbps bitrate and all is working well, no buffering etc., and the max listener value is set to 30. But what if you start broadcasting at 3 streams, let´s say 56, 40 and 24 kbps, does this mean you have to set the max listener value to the same total, for example 10/10/10, as before, or is it possible to have a total of 90 listeners with the same conditions as when using one stram?
Also, if broadcasting with a single stream, could conditions change as listeners increase? For example if you have one listener with no buffering, could this become a problem if you after a while get 10 more listeners? /Kilas |

The DNAS needs enough upload for whatever your settings. If you have more listeners than the uplaod can support, buffering occers.
Check out the Sticky post titled: SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled: 1. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> DSLReports Bandwidth tester(Only be concerned with the UPLOAD bandwidth) 2. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Listener Calculator 3. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Bandwidth Calculator Use 1 to find your upload. Use 2 to determine the number of listeners you can support at your selected streaming bitrate. Additionally, your listeners download needs to exceed your streaming bitrate. Jay (KXRM) also has a Bandwidth Calculator. |
