You'd have thought the people of Iraq would be happy with the less than $190 a year they are forced to recieve through our humane sanctions regime.

for all of those who try to post issues condemning Saddam in order to justify this war, please try to get it for once and skip this rotten argument: Nobody is defending Saddam or even cares about him; we are only against a war that will hit mostly the innocent people, a war that will never be justified no matter how you try to illustrate Saddam as a monster; Anyway we all know who created this monster and backed him up and for what reasons.

PROVE IT

Give me a resputable link. Just one. Give me a book. Anything. I've called for proof 130 times and never got it. PROVE THAT TO ME.

And by condemning USA, you you must mean that that taking Saddam out is a bad idea. Which is the same as support. Those who are not with us are against us. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice

Go read a book without pictures

/me thinks the point is this...

without the war, he stays in office and all this continues to happen. what this war will do is remove him from office. yes, a few civilians may be harmee, but in the long one, it is better for the country (and world) as a whole, and those of you who do not want this war, to the rest of us who want it, it seems as if you are OK with this type of treatment of the iraqi people to continue.

i haven't realy thought this argument over, but....

maybe if the majority of the Iraqi population valued freedom over there own lives, they would probably allready have made a revolt against saddam. The ones there have been, have been relatively small, except for conflicts with the kurds.

as far as my understanding goes, any ervolt tehre would end up being liek tienimen (sp?) square. Sadam would jsut haev his army kill the protesters, so if they value their lives, they keep their mouths shut and wait for someone else (ie. the US) to bail them ot.

The US through the CIA has tried a few times to force a coup financing the Kurds and Shites with million of dollars and weapons. Then when they realised that the Kurds/Shites were getting too powerful and the US wouldn't be able to put the government they wanted in place, they withdrew.

>>>who are not with us are against us.

Boy have you swallowed the media pill! Have you put any rational thought into that at all? Sorry but that is the biggest pile of shit anyone could ever say.

Go read a book called War Plan Iraq by Milan Rai, Noam Chomsky. Much more informative and better researched than anything you'e ever likley to have seen on your CNN the past few months. This book was published on 11/9/02, still very apt today.

it still sounds like nuking washington in order to get that sniper guy to me. misallocation of force. i suppose his loyal forces wouldn't be initially wiped out, but this is not the sort of "surgical strike" that the US were promising months back.

dlinkwit, is Iraq the only country who has a dictator treating his people like shit? of course not. there is plenty, few of them have MD weapons, and most of them are US allies, and this is why they are untouched. They will still be until there is a benefit for the US somewhere else and suddenly they will turn into the public enemy. This is an overused scenario that I really wonder how people haven't traced its pattern yet.
I understand your point of view but trust me politics are not that simple, and of course not that clean.
the book Phily pointed out is really rich and documented.. and as watadoo pointed out, there are plenty of other studies and independent researches done and they are so valuable for the only reason that they are not coming from the horns of the white house. Would you trust historians and scientists or rather a cowboy who can't write his speeches?
