A known bug. The "Window position saving fix" has already been applied in one of the internal Developer builds (496) and will be fixed in the next public release (no set date - so don't ask).

Nunzio,
Lucky me again. I don't seem to be having this problem, but I'm not big on skins. - use only Default and MMD3. Could it be skin related?

Qaxar...

Those are the same 2 skins that I ever use myself, and I also have never had any window position problems in Winamp3. However, I do at times download skins (temporarily) to test for other people who complain of other skin problems (eg: this thread) and I never experience problems with window positioning with those skins either. So this tends to make me believe that this window positioning problem that others experience and that I don't have, is not skin-related.

LaughingBovine...

I forgot to mention one other thing that is windows-positioning related as well. If for any reason a window TOTALLY disappears off-screen (as again happens to some people but never to me), follow this procedure...

First, close Winamp3. Then locate a file named studio.xnf in your main Winamp3 folder and DELETE that file. Reopen Winamp3. Studio.xnf will have recreated itself with all DEFAULT windows positions. In addition, you can try THIS.

Again, all window positioning problems will be fixed in the next public release.

Nunzio I believe you are correct about it not being a skin problem, or at least the problem is not completely dependent on the skin. I think it has something to do with the interaction of Winamp3, the skin, the video adapter, drivers and Windows itself. I am constantly changing hardware and software and see the effects a seemingly little change can have on the entire system. A couple of days ago I was looking for something and came across an old mobo that had three sticks of RAM in it. Since the board in this machine had two empty slots and only runs PC100 I figured even if they were only 32mb PC66 it wouldn’t hurt to add 64mb. Well after a day of having almost every program crash I realized one of the sticks I used was incompatible or damaged, replaced it with the other stick I had found, works fine. Couple of days before that I swapped out vid cards. Now my windows don’t seem to remember the size or location from when they are closed. Except Winamp3, it does just fine, but Word, Excel, Netscape etc., they all open in a small window, even though I run every thing maximized. Didn’t have this problem before I installed this card, although occasionally I had a problem with the Winamp3 windows not being docked before. Now I don’t run the most recent drivers for this card, I have better luck with one a couple of versions back, better compatibility overall, maybe the next one will be better.
I kinda look at it this way, using an analogy comparing PC’s to cars. Not every one has a 2000 Acura Integra. Some people just have an Integra, some have the RSX. Some have the Integra with fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror; some have the Integra with the child seat in the back, some have the Integra dropped to ground level, 20’s, K&N intake, NOS, and Thrustmaster exhaust. They will all get you from point a to point b in the same basic vehicle but the performance and therefore the actual drive will vary quite a bit depending on the equipment installed.
