ip error
Hi,
I'm having problems trying to shoutcast, since I started connecting (at home) through a Wireless ADSL Router device. The router isn't attached directly to any PC, and it has an access point connected to it. I connect to the internet using a USB Adapter with an antena device... When I configure the shoutcast plugin: Output 1 Connection: Adress: localhost OR the ip I get for my PC when running ipconfig (192.168.1.34 now), I am able to connect, (port 8000) and: <04/04/03@14:05:52> [source] connected from 192.168.1.34 <04/04/03@14:05:52> [source] icy-name:Testing ; icy-genre:Testing <04/04/03@14:05:53> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:24 ; icy-url:doing.c <04/04/03@14:05:53> [source] icy-irc:Test ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A <04/04/03@14:06:09> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) <04/04/03@14:06:09> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 195.23.129.39:8000) from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out)) If I insert my "real" ip, It doesn't connect... (I am not connecting through a proxy of firewall, as far as I am concerned..) What can I do? Please repply with not much specific language.. as I am rather lame on this... HELP !!! Rui |

192.x.x.x is a LAN address, and is never accessible outside your LAN.
Your 'real' ip is held by your router. You need to enable port forwarding on your router to point port 8000 on your 'real' ip address to port 8000 on your LAN address: See: Fixing [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out) Fixing Problems connecting to your SHOUTcast radio and you have a Router The FAQ at the top of this forum covers all this. Please read that first. "Beer?" |

I have been trying to configure the router.. so that I wouldn't get the same error, but no matter what I try, the error remains the same in the Shoutcast Server monitor.
I have tryed to enable port forwarding, from 8000 to 8001 (as suggested in other posts in this forum..), though I was not sure of which Ip Adress I should specify (I tried mine, my internal one (192...), and even not defined: 0.0.0.0). Do I have to specify any other ip adress there? My real ip adress, as far as I could notice, is not static, as the several errors I got after re-configuring the router, "cannot se your... (IP: xxx.xx....)" showed two different ip endings. I have also tried to disable NAT (but the error remained) and disabling every security 'points' in the Router's options (Web, Ping, Telnet, FTP, etc... though I know that disabling all of them was not needed). It did not work out ![]() Which erroneous configuration may be causing my problem... ? Cheers, Rui Miguel |

Have you disabled or properly configured your firewall to allow the incoming connection?
Check out http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin and see if the reported information there helps. |

I think I may be under some kind of proxy by the router... as the ip adress shown to the WAN starts in 2**... and, for example, when visiting the referred site (http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin ) and others, my "real" ip is 195.***... also, the two last numbers from my ip vary from 34 to 39.
Using my router's web configuration, I believe there is no option to shut down any kind of firewall/proxy... the only plausible options I have for that, are NAT and Security (I have tried to disable everything in both, and nothing changed)... May the problem reside in the IP adress I should specify for port forwarding ? (as I had writen before, I have configured port forwarding in NAT options, from 8000 to 8001, and did not specify an IP adress - that way I believe it should enable p.f. to any attempt of connection) Rui Miguel |

In the port forwarding you should send it directly to the computer running the stream (your REAL ip at 195.xxx.xxx.xxx)
That should solve your problem. Running behind a router and firewalls myself (I run my site as a sub-domain from my real business site) this is what I am doing now. |

I've just noticed that my given "real" ip (195.xx....) changes.. it seems that it only changes when there is any attempt of connection to it... it varies from one adress to another (both 195.xx....).
There must be a configuration on my router that I must acess to change this... I believe the problem may be there then... it "runs away" from connections, changing my ip, and there I go... stopped from connecting properly... |
