What I do Not Understand Yet

Yeah, OK, got this SHOUTcast thingy runnin' yesterday ... if it works as well as I think it is workin' ... this is indeed an amazing program!

Now this is what I do not understand:
I got it running on my personal computer for now ... until I get a dedicated Server for my WebSite ... so, I start the SHOUTcastServer ... then I start the WinAmp ... then I choose to play a Tune in WinAmp ... which, in turn, sortta activates the SHOUTcast Server ... which, I assume is now broadcasting ---->right? or wrong?

When I log on from the same computer that the SHOUTcast is running from using http://whatever.com:8000/listen.pls ... I then Click LISTEN ... now this is where I get confused ... because, I have no idea which I am listening to ... the SERVER or my LOGIN. Is there anyway to actually run the WinAmpBroadcast in "silent" mode so that I can then test as a "User"? And, is this why I keep getting sortta' like "repeats" or "loops" of the Tune when I log-on as User from the same computer that the SHOUTcast Server is running?

When I log on using another computer, (from behind the same router/modem of the same Network), I can log-on successfully and hear the Tune no probs.

And, two final questions:

Does SHOUTcast allow a User to simply LogOn and choose a particular Tune that is not currently being Broadcast and listen to it outside of the Broadcast but simulaneous to it?

And, has anyone got any ideas how this utter Novice could integrate this into a WebPage on my WebServer/WebSite? Like, how does one actually create a WebPage to let a User view the Status/Whats Playing on the SHOUTcast Server without actually having to LogOn to SHOUTcast?

Now for a Laff:
I worked two days trying to get SHOUTcast to work ... tried everything ... pulled my hair out! ... and all the time, NO DATA SENT ... DISCONNECTED.
I had no idea that WinAmp had to be actually playing a Tune for the SHOUTcast Server to successfully function.
hehehhehehhe

Thanks for your help!

I am very new to this ... yeah, I am new to WebServers too ... I built mine as a Paint-By-Document WebServer ... took me 5 months of reading and experimenting ... but now I have Apache & TomCat working interconnected, (one for static and the other for Java); MySQL; mIRChatServer ... and a bunch of other peripherals.
If anyone needs any help with such a project .. just let me know and I would be glad to help any way I can via an alternative Forum.

Again, THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME TO THESE QUESTIONS

1. Use the NULL Output DSP Plugin. If it's not in your output plugin slection list, get it from http://classic.winamp.com and search plugins for "Null Output" (without the quotes).

Q: Does SHOUTcast allow a User to simply LogOn and choose a particular Tune that is not currently being Broadcast and listen to it outside of the Broadcast but simulaneous to it?
A: Yes, on-demand allows this. Check out the Sticky post titled:

1. The PHP based XML parser is a complete solution and comes ready for you to customize.

2. The Javascript parser (actually ASP) is another complete solution and comes ready for you to customize.
