How do you stream is one Winamp and listen to music in another?
Ok, here's my problem everyone. I have come here before asking for help on this. I have tried what anyone has told me, but it isn't working, the multiple instances thing would have worked great except for the fact that I double click audio files to open them, not pre-open Winamp. I want to stream my station on the same PC I always listen to music on, but I don't want the music I listen to to stream. I already tried multiple instances and I thought it would work, but I double click a file and it opens in the WinAmp already open, and it's really starting to tick me off. I feel like the only solution is to buy a new second PC just to stream on, and that's an extreme waste of money so I want to avoid that. I have already tried installing 2 different WinAmps, but it works the same way, it opens in the one already open. Don't recommend Winamp3 because I already tried out that player for listening, I definitely like WinAmp 2 the best. Is there another program for Windows that can use shoutcast? I need to setup something, I worked hard to get this station going and can't give up now. Thanks.

I hear you Mr Soniclub
I hope you can follow me on this as I have the same deal here. I use Winamp and the Oddcast plugin for Shoutcasting here I also use the Sound solutions plugin for multiband compression. The audio comes from another computer running automation and sends out normal audio to the encoding computer. As one can see I use the "line in" plugin too for Winamp. This is a pain for me too when rebooting as I need to set it all up each time things go heywire. I use a "second instance" of Winamp to listen to my stream on the same computer that encodes it (same soundcard too). I find that running the dsp pluin and server all on this machine works fine for me. Three suggestions for you to try. There is a tick box in the preferances section of Winamp-under setup -files types etc. Make sure the middle one is ticked as this will only make your music pop onto the bottom of the list when you double click. Instaed of wiping it totally. This only stops part of the problem I know Also I'm assuming you use Winamp to play the music in too! next one Don't select Winamp as your mp3 default player next one install another player(brand) and set that as your default instead Running Winamp from two different locations like one in Program files and the other some where else doesn't work. For me I just never use double click-----I just open the file on the desk top high light them and drag in to the Winamp I'm actually listening too!!!!! I guess a no frills encoder is what you might be after too. So you just run it and there is no need to setup Winamp (it's self)to run the Shoutcast stream. Let me know if you find one---that would be handy. Regards Peter Station X |
