Connect connect to SHOUTcast server!
Hello -
Thanks for reading my post. I would like to SHOUTcast my automated Part 15 AM radio station. My OS is Windoze 2000. I installed and configured both the DSP plugin and the SHOUTcast server today. Both the DSP plugin and the server seem to be configured correctly. Winamp via the plugin connects with no problems to the SHOUTcast server. The SHOUTcast server seems to be broadcasting but for whatever reason I cannot connect to it. This connect is attempted using Winamp on another Windoze box on my LAN. The LAN card in the Windoze 2000 machine is assigned a static IP of 192.168.1.13 by my Linux DHCP server. I would think that I would be able to point Winamp to 192.168.1.13 from any other machine on my class C LAN and be able to get connected. However this is not the case .. I cannot connect at all period. Below is the output log from the SHOUTCAST server: ******************************************************************************* ** SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Server ** Copyright (C) 1998-2000 Nullsoft, Inc. All Rights Reserved. ** Use "sc_serv filename.ini" to specify an ini file. ******************************************************************************* Event log: <04/30/03@21:14:56> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.9.2 (Nov 25 2002) starting up... <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] initializing (usermax:5 portbase:8000)... <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] opening source socket <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] source thread starting <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] opening client socket <04/30/03@21:14:56> [source] listening for connection on port 8001 <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] Client Stream thread [0] starting <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] client main thread starting <04/30/03@21:14:56> [main] dns thread starting <04/30/03@21:16:17> [source] connected from 192.168.1.13 <04/30/03@21:16:18> [source] icy-name:The Rock ; icy-genre:Everything <04/30/03@21:16:18> [source] icy-pub:0 ; icy-br:24 ; icy-url:http://www.kj6eo.com <04/30/03@21:16:18> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A Because I only have 1 LAN card in the windoze 2000 machine I have set the SourceIP and DestIP parms to ANY. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Bill KJ6EO |

Hi Tom -
That was the problem. I did not know that I had to specify which port to connect on. Your suggestion is appreciated! Regards, Bill KJ6EO |

Tom -
I installed the SHOUTcast server over on my main linux WEB server. I have punched port 8000 through the firewall. I would be interested in knowing if you can connect to my SHOUTcast server at: 64.174.110.106:8000 Let me know if you are successful! Regards, Bill KJ6EO |
