Did you change the DNAS variables srcIP and destIP from ANY?

Is your DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo on the same machine?

What exactly are you entering for "Address" and "Port" in the DSP?

If the DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo are on the same machine, then use "127.0.0.1" (without the quotes) or "localhost" (without the quotes) as the Address in the DSP.

If the DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo are not on the same machine but still on the same lan, then use the lan ip of the DNAS as the Address in the DSP.

Else, use the real, world-visible ip of the DNAS as the Address in the DSP.

I got: http://my.ip.from.what.is.my.ip.com/listen.pls

address: Localhost

That stuff looks good. (Maybe localhost instead of Localhost. I don't know if case is important.)

For the url, leave it blank and check the "Enable title updates" and both "Auto" fields next to title and url.

What happens when you press the connect button?

Anything logged in your DNAS?

Check out the results from a SHOUTcast forum search on '400 bad request'.

Look for the post by eth1k titled:
[yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request)

Look for the post by jsd2k titled:

i restarted everyting now it says
"<05/16/03@18:21:45> [main] error opening source socket! FATAL ERROR! Some other process is using this port!"
This means i have to change the 8000 everywhere to like 8001 right?

DNAS link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport
Listen link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport/listen.pls

Replace yourDNASip with the ip of the DNAS (SHOUTcast server) and yourDNASport with the DNAS port (default is 8000)

Also, machines on the same lan as the DNAS (you) need to use the lan ip of the DNAS to connect/listen.
Machines not on the same lan as the DNAS (the rest of the world) need to use the real, world-visible ip of the DNAS to connect/listen.

See RFC1918 for more information. Scroll down and look for the section titled:
3. Private Address Space

How to find your ip address (Part I).
How to find your ip address (Part II).

Finally, you can get a static name, such as foo.bar.com (not as cool as that, though ) from http://www.no-ip.com or one of the other myriad of Dynamic DNS Services.
Then, your links would be:
DNAS link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport
Listen link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport/listen.pls

Are your mixers configured properly?

Is your Winamp/DSP combo in Winamp or soundcard input method?

What are the source file type(s)?

****************

Check out the results from a SHOUTcast forum search on 'delay', or 'buffer', or 'lag', or 'latency', or 'real time', or...

The answer to all is:
The buffer allows QoS (quality of service) to the listener.
If you want real time, then SHOUTcast is not the solution.

you'd need to set in advanced soundcard mode, which was mentioned above somewhere. And also that you need to configure your mixer (computer volumes) to stereo input (note) any notifications from AIM or email will be heard on the station!
