listening to Shoutcast server for a dummy

Good day!

I setup a Shoutcast server on my lan with all default settings except the passwords. I downloaded the DSP plugin and installed in Winamp. I configured with basic stuff and I connected it to my server and everything seems fine. I says that it is transmitting. The only thing now is that I want to access the freaking server with Winamp, how the hell do I do that? I tried opening an URL with the IP address of the PC running the Shoutcast server but I have no joy, Winamp says that it cannot open ... What the hell do I have to to in order to have my laptop to connect to my Shoutcast server?

say ur ip is 111.222.111.222
and your port is 8000

then ur listen url would be http://111.222.111.222:8000/listen.pls

of course replace that with your real ip address and port

find out ur ip address by going to this page: http://www.thedigitaldream.co.uk/ip.php

Do you have a router?
Did you add the port when you put in the ip address to connect to to listen?
The address you put in...was it http://ipaddress:port/listen.pls?

So many questions to ask...lets start with those first though.

if your dnas is running on a machine, not directly connected to the net, then you have to forward all requests on port 8000 from your router/firewall or gateway, to your dnas machine

if you have a router, is it a linksys router, if so let me know and i can show you how to route the ports

I was missing the "listen.pls" at the end of my URL. Everything works fine now!
