Need some basic help on the listen link

I've got shoutcast and winamp set up and it will work on a local lan, but now I'm getting ready to go live with a net broadcast, doing a webcast of a sports talk show. I've got my own server, and I'm waiting on my internet provider to give me my static ip. When I get that I need to create a link on our Station page on our website and I want to make sure I get it right! I know I need to put this http://my-ip:8000/listen.pls for my link, and I'm guessing I can do that within a graphic, like a listen here thing, but where do I put the listen.pls? Or do I need to create one? I found this on radio toolbox - Click Here to Listen Will it work, and will this open whatever player the listener has on their system, or do they have to have winamp?

Sorry for all the questions!
