Greatest songs of the last 25 yrs...
VH1 has listed what they say are the greatest songs of the last 25 years.
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana tops the list. What do you think? |

Poppycock. 'Smells like Teen Spirit' shouldn't be number one, not by a long shot. My candidates for that would include;
Metallica - Enter Sandman Queen - Under Pressure, I Want to Break Free, A Kind of Magic, Radio Ga-ga... G n' R - Paradise City, November Rain, It's So Easy... Aerosmith - Love In an Elevator, Permanent Vacation... Michael Jackson - Billie Jean, Thriller Eric Clapton - Change The World Autograph - Turn up the Radio Van Halen - Eruption ACDC - Back in Black, Hell's Bells, Highway to Hell... Everything But The Girl - Missing Oasis - Wonderwall, Shakermaker, Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, Some Might Say, Supersonic, Cigarettes & Alcohol... Madonna - Frozen, Ray of Light, Music Green Day - Basket Case, and that 'Time of Your Life' one Aha - Take on Me Spandau Ballet - Gold, True... Alicia Keys - Fallin' Beck - Loser Blur - Song 2, The Universal... Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA, Thunder Road... Coldplay - The Scientist, Yellow, Spies, Trouble... Faithless - God is a DJ, Insomnia... I'll leave it there, but there are SO many great tracks. I realise some of those are in VH1's top 20, but as with most of these polls, I have my own opinion and it differs greatly... |

there is no way that Nirvana (in my very humble opinion) should be #1. My picks:
U2: Where the Streets have no names; Sunday, Bloody Sunday Eurythmics: Sweet Dreams The Eagles: Desperado Tears for Fears: Shout Garth Brooks: The Dance Phil Collins: Let it rain down (?) Pearl Jam: Jeremy there are more for me... but i'd have to dig thru the playlists... had to edit because i for got about the time frame. |

There are a lot of schools of thought on this, mine would be...
I don't agree with Nirvana being the number one song, I think SLTS was overated, but at the time when it was released it was exactly the kick up the arse the music scene needed, something a little different to wake you up, but it by no means the best work Nirvana ever produced, probably the most mainstream, but not the best It's probably the "mainstream" part of it that has helped propel it to where it is to today, not only in this poll, but it's often seen as some kind of anthem for the mid 90's generation. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent cut, but just not the best... What should be at the top?, gawd knows, it's hard to shoe horn one particular song and say that this is better than that. /polls suck. |

There are so many great songs of different genres, it's impossible to choose one which is the best, especially in such a wide range as the last 25 years. Smells Like Teen Spirit is a good song, but it's not number 1. I could possibly narrow it down to a list of 10 of different genres, but I can't be bothered
. Mebbe later.

It's virtually impossible. Top 25 albums would be an easier feat.
