A problem and a question
Problem: I've asked friends to try connecting to my server, but their connection attempts have failed. My server is running and connected though. What may be the problem?
Question: How do I keep track of how many people have connected? |

Q: What may be the problem?
A: You're proabably using the wrong url. Please post the link your friends are trying. Q: How do I keep track of how many people have connected? A: Examine your DNAS log either directly or the online Admin area. |

Oh! I realised I didn't add the ":8000" at the back of my IP. My bad!!!
How do I make a URL so that people can just connect easier? How do I access this "online admin" area? And how do I use a microphone to speak in Shoutcast? Can I just speak into the microphone like that and people would be able to hear me? (after I've connected) |

A: Please enjoy link bot. DNAS link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport Listen link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport/listen.pls Replace yourDNASip with the ip of the DNAS (SHOUTcast server) and yourDNASport with the DNAS port (default is 8000) Also, if your router doesn't support local loopback then machines on the same lan as the DNAS (you) need to use the lan ip of the DNAS to connect/listen. Machines not on the same lan as the DNAS (the rest of the world) need to use the real, world-visible ip of the DNAS to connect/listen. See RFC1918 for more information. Scroll down and look for the section titled: 3. Private Address Space How to find your ip address (Part I). How to find your ip address (Part II). Finally, you can get a static name, such as foo.bar.com (not as cool as that, though ) from http://www.no-ip.com or one of the other myriad of Dynamic DNS Services. Then, your links would be: DNAS link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport Listen link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport/listen.pls ***************** Q: Also, how do I access this "online admin" area? A: Visit your DNAS by one of the following methods: 1) From the DNAS machine use DNAS link: http://localhost:yourDNASport 2) From another machine on the same network: DNAS link: http://lanDNASip:yourDNASport 3) From another machine not on the same network: DNAS link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport One there, click the "Admin" link and login. Username = "admin" (no quotes) Password = defined in the DNASs sc_serv.ini/conf configuration file. Default section shown below: code: |
