What took them so long anyway, not like a label to drag their heals with a B-Side compillation (there's always more juice in that lemon). I hope they get Robert's good side for the box (I bet it'll be plastered with lipstick kisses). |

Hopefully, the boxset will be an exhaustive project. They also plan to rerelease all the studio albums in remastered versions with bonus cds
![]() Anyway, not exactly Cure-related but Robert Smith does the vocals on a track called Perfect Blue Sky on the new Junkie XL album "Radio Jxl", the music is fairly generic gentle electronica but Robert's vocals are absolutely excellent. Also, he has written the lyrics of a song called 'Believe' for some guy named Earl Slick, have to check out who it is Also, a remixed version of A Forest by Blank And Jones, with new vocals by Robert should be available soon as well as a re-sung version of Pictures of You made for an Australian movie. Sweetness ![]() Stay tuned. |

see, this is why i love you twilight,
i would NEVER know about any of this. and Earl Slick does ring a bell in the dusty corners of my mind for some odd reason. please let me know about the remix of A Forest and the re-do on Pictures of You, that's one of my favorites from them. which reminds me, time to blast my cd on the stereo!

Smart. Some of their B-sides are better than the A's ('This Twilight Garden' springs to mind). I know they won't all be of that high caliber, but there must be more gems on offer.
Incidentally, there was talk in NME this week about Boris coming back. |

That would be the most awesome news Heck, Cooper is so worthless, completely ruins the Trilogy DVD Don't worry about the B-Sides' quality : I've heard quite a few of them and most of them are terrific : check out songs such as "Fear of Ghosts", "Out Of Mind", "Scared As you", all of the HOTD era... |

HOTD is such a good album. Replicated (almost successfully) by Hot Hot Heat! I can imagine those b-sides being good.
Actually I was bullshitting about Boris. Does this mean I'm banned? |

I'll be checking out other Blank & Jones mixes. 2 good out of 2 ain't a bad start. Maybe there'll be a 'Mixed Up II' at some point in the future? A tranced-up version of 'The Walk' must already exist somewhere - if not I'll do it myself (I have a micro studio under the stairs). I'll have to think of other songs that would sound good in trance format. |

Actually, on "Mixed Up", The Walk was replayed, not remixed. Same goes for the version of A Forest on the same album. I'll try to check out some more stuff by Blank And Jones too

It sounds like the Blank & Jones 'Forest' was replayed. I didn't detect many original features bar the vocals (and the tune of course).

Deleted by a washing machine! They should've written a song about it. I'm on Blank & Jones patrol, sounds like Mattress territory (your standard trance issue).

The best Cure album anyone? I'd say:
![]() The remixes/replays are just exquisite. AMG gave it 2/5, which proves that all rating-systems are bollox. |

Hmm, I don't know, I've kinda given up on deciding which was their best. I kinda like the Accoustic CD of the G.H. Different twists on how some of those songs sound. And for the most part, never listen ot ctitcs/ratings, they never know squat.

"Mixed Up" really is an oddity (one more
) in The Cure's career. I actually like it while most "diehard fans" ( ) hate it because it was the period when the band was dabbling with electronica and of course, any rock band that does so is a whore. That being said, I find the Inbetween Days remix absolutely awful while I like those of Lullaby and The Caterpillar.I've pretty much given up trying to define what the best Cure album is because my judgement changes according to my mood. Still, I think their strongest works are "Seventeen Seconds", "Faith", "Pornography" "The Head On The Door" "Kiss Me Kiss Me, Kiss Me" and "Disintegration". But the fact is I haven't really listened to The Cure lately, maybe because I sort of get tired of not having anything new to listen to. "Bloodflowers" wasn't exactly a bombastic release (awesome songs on it but also some so-so numbers), The Greatest Hits was a rehash of old material (Actually, I've never listened entirely to the acoustic hits, imho, it just lacks passion), The B-side collection has been postponed until 2004 ( ) and the new album still seems far away. And my lack of interest for the current line-up doesn't help.Currently, I'm more into other groups, especially Mogwai (who happens to be Smith's fave band), their latest album is excellent as was Rock Action and the track "Killing All The Flies" is a pure masterpiece. Now, if only Boris and Porl would come back...

Entreat is very good and It took some finding.. better production and song versions than Disintegration (the album all the tracks come from)..
You can turn Wish (a very good album) into a complete classic.. remove all the happy songs.. i think the ones to remove are: High, doing the unstuck, friday I'm in love and a letter to elise.. I quite like Bloodflowers... wild mood swings is exactly like the title.. varied.. but too varied and with only possibly 3 good songs.. Mixed up was (again) my entry cd.. fascination street (extended mix) and lovesong (extended)... wow... so for me its Entreat, Wish (my edit) and Mixed Up.. (reminds me - need to backup Entreat) |

Fridays I'm in Love was ill-conceived. They tried to make a latter day "In Between Days" but it goes against the grain of Wish. I'd get rid of it - you can't have such a track sitting smack in the middle of a downbeat album. Imagine having Love Cats on Faith???? I'd keep "High" though, it's very "Wish". |

actually i looked at wish last night and letter to elise is not a removable track..
so this is it (sorry Cylob, don't agree with your opinion on High..) 1. Open (Bamonte/Gallup/Smith/Thompson/Williams) - 6:51 3. Apart (Bamonte/Gallup/Smith/Thompson/Williams) - 6:38 4. From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea (Bamonte/Gallup/Smith/Thompson/Williams) - 7:44 5. Wendy Time (Bamonte/Gallup/Smith/Thompson/Williams) - 5:13 8. Trust (Bamonte/Gallup/Smith/Thompson/Williams) - 5:33 9. A Letter to Elise (Bamonte/Gallup/Smith/Thompson/Williams) - 5:14 10. Cut (Bamonte/Gallup/Smith/Thompson/Williams) - 5:55 11. To Wish Impossible Things (Bamonte/Gallup/Smith/Thompson/Williams) - 4:43 12. End (Bamonte/Gallup/Smith/Thompson/Williams) - 6:46 If people don't have Entreat (as its rare) then Cylob will sort you!! Entreat: - eh no track listing on allmusic - Cylob - can you post it? |

I'd settle for your track listing orac, but High brings back memories from '92. Good or bad is besides the point. For me it's the above plus High, but I'd possibly move it towards the end. After Letter to Elise would be good. Twilightseer is a Cure expert, he can recite any track listing forwards, backwards, by length or by name. Speaking of Entreat, I made the mistake of hearing it before Disintegration. Never mind. |

I really like High, it's a very nifty song, actually, Smith said it was inspired to him by a little girl, daughter of some of his relatives or friends, he said the expression "sky as a kite" was hers. It's a joyful song, and in addition, the remix that appeared on the EP was very good (Higher Mix)

I didn't know Porl was so talented. Great handle then 'seer, I didn't realise the connection.
On the subject of Wish - does anyone else think "Open" sounds like Duran Duran/Is There Something I Should Know? It definitely carries the same tune. |

Never made the connection with the Duran Duran Song, guess I should clear the dust off my DD best of cd and check it.
Open is a fabulous song when it's played live and fast (as on the Show live album). When I heard the studio version, I was disappointed, it's too slow and the drum sound was not that weel chosen. |
