Will you hire a ex-con?
Watching the movie "Con Air"....
I was thinking: Will you hire (in a job) a person that was in jail? * PC: Intel Core 2 DUO E6550 @ 2.33 GHz with 2 GB RAM: Archlinux-i686 with MATE. * Laptop: Intel Core 2 DUO T6600 @ 2.20 GHz with 4 GB RAM: Archlinux-x86-64 with MATE. |

You know, it would really depend on the crime, and I suppose I would have to know more about the trial and what not and how much doubt there was in the case.
If life calls and you're busy, let the answering machine pick-up. Just so you know, my previous avatar was NOT a swastika, nor did it have much similarity to one. Just thought I'd clear that up since I cannot use my own original art work. |

a friend of mine spent some time in jail for failure to appear in court to take care of speeding tickets, small stuff, but it's on her record and unfortunately most people just see the jail time and don't bother to research the WHY. yes, she should have taken care of it, but all kinds of shit happened to her at that time, and it was either food on the table or pay tickets.

If you're just going to use it as your home page, I see nothing wrong with that. If you use it for your actual website, there may be a few conflicts, but I'm not sure.

Unless its a petifile or some sex offender, I think i would hire an ex-con. After serving their prison terms, I highly doubt they would commit another crime.. but it all depends...

Actually studies have shown that people who serve time in jail for the punishment are more likely to commit another crime and be sent back (well at least here in Maricopa county, after all we have the the nations "tuffest" (and fattest) sheriff, Sawg knows what im talking about)

I would have thought it depended very much on whether or not the person had the skills to perform his/her duties as required by the job provided the crime was not worthy of capital punishment.
That being said I would hire a cleaner if I actually needed to have a job done.

LOL this hits pretty close to home for me. Our company just found out that one of the higher-ups had been in a federal penitentiary for 2 years, for bank fraud totalling about $180,000. Did they know about it? Of course not. Why did they not do a background check? Good question. Is he in trouble for not telling them he was on parole? You bet. Is he claiming he told them, but they hired him anyway and then put him in charge of company funds? You bet. Did he take money from our company too? You bet.
The only reason we found out was because someone was looking for a book he said he wrote, and they found that he was Fleet Admiral of a Star Trek fan club, and that was where it said he later went to prison. Fun stuff.

Depends on what they were convicted of and the way they act...

Well, like most people have already said, it would depend on the crime the ex-con commited, and if I liked him/her or not. |

Yah I would but lets say I own a 24 hour gas station, and this guy applies to work here and he was convicted of robbing gas stations...no hes not going to get hired, but lets say he didn't pay speeding tickets, sure.
