Anyone who's read a few of my posts in this forum already know my favorite diva. I have every song she's ever released to the public, plus 34 unpublished demos she recorded to a 4-track in her bedroom in 1992 and handed out to her friends, and 44 other songs comprising all the unreleased demos for her next-to-last album.

I like Liz as a singer, songwriter and musician overall, but looking only at strength-of-voice, my favorite is one that many people would roll their eyes at: LeAnn Rimes. I've yet to hear any voice in this world with as much force as hers. Listen to Sign Of Life, Damn and her rendition of How Do I Live for evidence of this.

I have an unexplainable attraction to the female voice, so well over half of the vocalists in my music collection are women. Other solo artist on my shelf that I really like are:

I did forget PJ Harvey and Juliana Hatfield...they're among my favorites too, even though I don't have any of their albums right now (but I used to). Never heard of Julie Ruin or Julee Cruise...I'll have to check them out.

Have to give Curve a listen too (I may have heard it before, can't remember).

Haven't heard of Le Tigre, but I do love Bikini Kill...and Bratmobile and Sleater-Kinney also.

I've just recently gotten into Kathleen Hanna's work...thanks for telling more about it, now I know what else to look for. For many years I've been a fan of female alternative and indie rock, but my Riot Grrrl addiction is more recent.

@spaceplay: When it was on TV, I wasn't really into Twin Peaks...I saw maybe two or three episodes. Nowadays my tastes are different, and I'd love to see it if it were ever on TV. What I should do is buy a DVD with the first few episodes and see if I get into it...I bet I would. I know it was a weird show, but the weirder the better...I'm a Lexx fan, after all.
