Millionaire Artists: Like them or loave them?
Loave....like bread loaves? ROFLMAO. I think you were looking for loathe, but hey, yours is soo much better. Fer real.
bread is sooo cool. Soo is Mr. 007.
I go along the lines of Stephen King. (horror writer, I know, but hold on, I'll get to the point)
When he released "Riding the Bullet" on-line, there was a ton of fanfare over the world about how print is dead and Stephen King is on the cutting edge and blah-de-blah-de-blah. He also made an "embarrasing" amount of money.
What bothered him was that nobody cared about the story
. Everybody was so concerned about how cutting-edge he was that nobody bothered to even notice that it's actually pretty fucking good.
He say's in his book Everything's Eventual
that he would never like to compare the number of people who downloaded the story vs the number of people who actually read it
. He thinks he'd be greatly disappointed.
I think that's the way music should be. Make music for the music sake. Make money by making music, don't make music to make money.
