I need some help! please read

i downloaded the shoutcast server, i use DNAS (Gui) . I installed the addon on winamp. Everything works on the winamp side, on output one, i put the servers ip, password etc. and when i click start, the server detects it, so there seems to be no problem at all with the winamp bit. The only problem i am having, is when i begin to radio broadcast, on my server monitor, this appears:

<07/27/03@20:11:35> [yp_add] error connecting to yp.shoutcast.com
<07/27/03@20:11:57> [yp_add] error connecting to yp.shoutcast.com

and the list of errors continue, also the radio doesn't appear on shoutcasts site, how can i solve this error please?

Something is preventing the DNAS from connecting to yp.shoutcast.com
Does the computer running the DNAS have an internet connection?
Do you have a firewall that is blocking it?
Did you change the value of Yport?

i got broadband, so always connected,
i do not have a firewall
and the i have not changed the y port, (does tht make it 80?)

so i do not know wats wrong,

how are you connected to the internet. I've gotten that error before when my wireless network goes wacko!

No and either can you (they block traffic).

Anyway try changing Yport to 666 and see if that helps. Remember you'll need to restart the DNAS for the changes to take effect.

i tried that. nothing is working,

when you say restart dnas, do u mean kill server then re open it?

on the shoutcast plugin, output 1 is

Address: 127.0.0.1
Port:8000
Password: <My password off my dnas>
Encoder: 1

reconnect time out: 30

in yellow pages:

Make my server public (checked)

Description: Xtreme Fm Radio
Url: http://xfm.fateback.com
Genre: Trance / House
AIM: N/A
ICQ: 0
IRC: #shoutcast

ok. now this is screwed up. every 30 minutes there is an error

<08/01/03@14:31:45> [yp_tch] error connecting to yp.shoutcast.com

but it only does it for like3 minutes then it goes back to connecting. why???

yes. on the dns it connects fine but then every thirty minutes or so it shows the error connecting to yp.shoutcast.com then it works again.

He meant problems with your DNS (Domain Name System) servers

. Whether you can resolve yp.shoutcast.com to the actual IP address.

huh? I have no idea what that means. All I know is everything works fine and the station runs and then the error pops up in the server log thing

Such an error could occur with temporary DNS problems (although the address should usually be already in the DNS cache). The DNAS cannot resolve the IP address of yp.shoutcast.com and cant connect therefore. Next time you encouter this behaviour open up a command prompt and run this command

Although you the ping will not return (due to the machine's configuration), you can see this way whether you can resolve the IP address.

Correct. ICMP seems to be disabled, which makes it impossible to have a successful ping or traceroute.
