Weird Winamp Issues
Ok, here's the problem. I'll be surfing the internet, downloading files, or just looking through my files while listening to winamp when the sound will stop and stutter for like 5-10 seconds. After that, it will continue on with the song like nothing happened. I am running Win2k on a P2 233mhz with 320mb ram, SB Live! X-Gamer, an ATI rage, and other unmentionables. The thing that really gets me is the fact that I looked in my plugin directory for Winamp and found none of the files that supposedly muck up winamp. I've looked through lots of the threads and seen nothing else. Any help would be much appreciated. Oh and also, I dropped down the hardware acceleration for Direct X sound and it still messes up. Thanks for the help.

Make sure you are running the latest version of 2.x, which is 2.91. Switch to the DirectSound output plugin, and on the first tab in its configuration tick the "Enable Hardware Acceleration" box. Restart Winamp.
If you still have problems make sure you are using the newest driver from Creative. The newesr driver supposedly solves static/cracking problems in 2k and XP that some systems had. |
