LCD/VFD Screens

I have an old Siemens Nixdorf VFD (similar to an LCD) Screen and I wondering if anyone knows how to display Winamp information on it.

I have downloaded various LCD plug ins and programs, but nothing seems to work!

Can anyone out there help?

VFD: Vacumm Florescent Display. Early version of LCD. Commonly used in the 70's in handheld games.

Anyway, why use a VFD?

This is a sig of some nature.

OH, a VFD! I think I know what he is talking about! They sell VFDs aftermarket, the majority are PC-bay inserts for the computer. They have the ability to display everything from CPU usage, Winamp Titles (What's currently playing), SETI@Home, you name it!

crazyned, does it come with installation software? If not, what's the name of the manufacturer? Maby I can help you find it.

I got hold of a couple of old VFD displays from old pc based cash registers when a store was refitted a few years ago. I was just wondering how on earth I could rig them up to my own pc at home and be able to display things like..

- winamp status
- winamp track name
- random messages
- anything else!

As they were from a store refit, there was no software.

Thanks so far guys!

Yeah Crazyned, you need to give us the makes and models of all of your VFD's. Otherwise we can't help you at all.
