How to password protect playlist?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but here's what I want to do. I have about 6000 mp3s and I would like to but a playlist file on a website that will let me run them from whatever location I am at. Now I know I can just put them on a server and share them out but I'm worried about the RIAA so I want to password protect this file and/or all the mp3s. How do I go about doing this? What type of playlist supports password protection, m3u, pls, or b4s?

Having a playlist on several computers wont work unless all the computers have all the songs on the playlist, and in the same place as each others.

Also, playlists dont have the MP3's in them, so putting them on a website doesnt mean the RIAA can get the mp3's. All a playlist is, is a list of songs and where they are on your hard drive so Winamp can find the mp3 and play it.

#EXTINF:262,Radiohead - [06] - Karma Police
D:\MP3\Radiohead\Radiohead - 00 - [06] - Karma Police.mp3
#EXTINF:293,Radiohead - [05] - I Might Be Wrong
D:\MP3\Radiohead\Radiohead - [05] - I Might Be Wrong.mp3
#EXTINF:252,Radiohead - [12] - Street Spirit
D:\MP3\Radiohead\Radiohead - [12] - Street Spirit (Fade Out).mp3

Thats all a playlist file is.

Here's a simple verison: to do what you want to do, you have to have your own server, or a server tha gives you access to, directory protection. Then, if you can get access to that, you can specify users and their passwords to access specific directies, so you could have a user: mp3s and the pasword could be: playlists .

Otherwise, you could zip or otherwise compress your playlist with passsword protection, so all the person must do is download and enter the password to get the playlist.

See what I'm listening too.

LOL @ Pass/protecting playlists. Try protecting your FTP instead.

As 31337-2k2 suggested just password protect the directory the playlist and files reside. Search google for .htaccess for more info.

Well I do have my own server, so I don't think it will be that hard to password protect the whole directory. But what I'm wondering is say I put the playlist on a webpage, I put a password to access that page. Then I can click on the playlist to open winamp, is my password cached or will does winamp need to input that password for every song. I'm planning on making my playlist like this:

#EXTINF:262,Radiohead - [06] - Karma Police
\\209.1.1.1\MP3\Radiohead\Radiohead - 00 - [06] - Karma Police.mp3
