Probably the same problem a lot of others are having.
ok, im new to this. as if it werent obvious enough. ive read through these forums and havent found any answers at all.
ok here is my problem Event log: <08/25/03@02:14:11> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.9.2 (Nov 25 2002) starting up... <08/25/03@02:14:11> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini <08/25/03@02:14:11> [main] initializing (usermax:32 portbase:8000)... <08/25/03@02:14:11> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <08/25/03@02:14:11> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <08/25/03@02:14:11> [main] opening source socket <08/25/03@02:14:11> [main] source thread starting <08/25/03@02:14:11> [main] opening client socket <08/25/03@02:14:11> [main] Client Stream thread [0] starting <08/25/03@02:14:11> [main] client main thread starting <08/25/03@02:14:11> [source] listening for connection on port 8001 <08/25/03@02:14:14> [source] connected from 127.0.0.1 <08/25/03@02:14:14> [source] icy-name J Pelon ; icy-genre:Various<08/25/03@02:14:14> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:56 ; icy-url:http://www.shoutcast.com <08/25/03@02:14:14> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A <08/25/03@02:14:25> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) <08/25/03@02:14:25> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 205.247.28.157:8000) from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out)) I am using Windows ME. and i am not running a firewall or internet sharing. I am not using a router, or any p2p program. i am using a dsl connection. there is one thing puzzling me though. I used a link to see my ip address. something like youripaddress.com or whatever. and it was the same as above, but i clicked on my start button and then clicked on run and typed in 'winipcfg' and i got something totally different the ip address i see there is 10.10.10.27 and when i click the more info button i see what looks like another ip address next to DNS servers. needless to say all of this is pretty confusing especially to a complete NOOB! heh and i have read some posts about forwarding ports and stuff but i never see a post that tells you exactly how to do anything around here, just a bunch of the same links that lead to dead ends. is there any help for newbs? Did you change the SrcIP or DestIp from ANY in the sc_serv file?
What are putting in the 'Address' and 'Port' boxes on the shoutcast menu? Scotty Doesn't Know |

You can find in your register of windows a place to open port 8000 8001, windows have closed this normally.
I don't know the location for ME only for 98. Good Luke.

You have to actually have a router to use Port Forwarding. Don't confuse the kid.

How would you port forward without a router?

It's not a forward it's a closed port. I wil install a win98 comp now for the search true the register.
You will receive a repley in 90 minutes with regedit. Greets HMR |

10.10.10.27 is a lan ip.
205.247.28.157 is potentially your real, world-visible ip. Check out http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin and see if the reported information there helps. Does your ISP block ports? |

Festerhead, i used the link that you provided above and i recieved this message.
205.247.28.157:8000 is Closed Reason Given: Connection timed out More about this error: This means that you are most likely behind a firewall, this error esentially says that you and your computer aren't there. You might also check to be sure that your ip is 205.247.28.157, if it is not then you are behind some sort of proxy. so now that we probably know that it is actually my isp and not me that is causing the problem is there a way to fix this? |

Contact your ISP and verify they block ports.
If they do, ask if they'll open/forward the necessary port(s) to you. Is it against your ISP TOS to run a server? |
