Best Winamp two skin competition...
HELLO EVERYBODY
WELCOME TO THE WINAMP 2 SKINNERS COMPETITION Feel Free to post your skins for the competition... attach a file or include a hyperlink to the skin page on winamp PLEASE ATTACH ONLY YOUR OWN SKINS SKINS WILL BE JUDGED BY OTHER PEOPLE IN THE FORUM ON THE BASIS OF -LOOK /5 -PRACTICAL DESIGN /5 -Originality /5 -AND OVERALL BLENDING /5 FOR A TOTAL OUT OF /20 (oh and please add a description with your post) i will start the competition with my neon skin it was a skin originnaly designed for a retro look however this was difficult to do with MS paint. I am starting the competition at a low quality entry so it will be easy to beat  (click on the link for neon skin in my signature) |

Don't you think you should establish at least a little bit of a rapport in this forum first before you start a contest?

One i have been around alot longer then you think... my old account was cooolio11 (or cooolio_11 but i can't member which) but i forgot my pass and i changed my e-mail account...
as for the caps i wanted to use it to grab peoples attention (a proven tactic) and i wanted it to be a contest for fun without any given prize (proof that you have the best skin should be enough) |

made two posts in the tech support forum within 3 hours of each other in the same thread. Never came back, forgot username and password, but has been around long enough to start a contest without prizes and purpose in a field he is new in. Using caps is a proven tactic to get people to tell you not to shout, that's about it. i was around for a bit... i never posted much but i read alot... i never answered any questions because i was really never good at skinning... if you want proof of that look at my skins...
i know i never posted much but like i said i read alot of posts and i tried to put my part into skinning but nobody really gave me a chance so now i'm trying to start something that will get me noticed... now if you've put me down enough you'll just leave me the F@*# alone |

If you just wanted your skins noticed, put screenshots and links to the skins here. People will tell you what you did right or wrong and they will tell you how to improve them. A contest is not needed for that.

a) newb trying to hold a contest with no reputation as a skinner at all
b) no prizes c) your own skins, to be blunt, suck. that's only three, I am tired, and going to bed. Basicly, hang around here first, get a reputation, then try to maybe make a contest. Let's take me for example, I have been ehre since sept 2000, but I suck at skinning, I only critique, but I know damn well I had better not even think about trying to make a contest, esp if I have no prize. Right guys?

Why's everybody being so mean to this guy? I don't see why it's such a big deal. He's basically saying, "what winamp 2 skin do you all think is the best?" He's not even asking anybody to make new skins, just to post a link to their personal best or favorite skin. *shrug* I don't care if there's a prize or not, I think my best skin is Zelda Amp 3. (http://www.1001winampskins.com/skin_...l?skin_id=2496) And since everybody hates the only other skin he entered, I guess I'm winning so far. This could be fun guys, who thinks they can top mine? It's harmless.

 .Neon skin: Well, for starts it's no eye candy. It's not much more than the base skin simplified and recolored (not all of the baseskins background has been covered over in black even!). It doesn't look very thoughtful at all. Having said that, it's useable, theres no obvious bugs and everythings visable. I think the best you can do with this skin is chalk it up to experience. It's original in very few ways, and overall it's not nice. But hopefully, as far as the skinning process goes, hopefully you learned something. Xtreme Sportz: Well... you haven't done much more than plonk a picture behind the base skin, a picture most likely not made by you. Frankly, I'd give this skin a -5 for effort. Now, for this contest thing... I agree with Luigi Hann.
However, The WinampSkiner, you should give this contest some kind of structure. At least pick a deadline by when people have to post their link. Anyway, here's mine: Sum of Parts; and here's my description: It's one of the easiest skins I've ever made, yet it's one of my favourites. Someone once said of one of my skins that "the skinning [was] invisible" (I think it was Skinme! about my SHAG skin) - and I guess that's always one of my top priorities in making a skin - to make the skin work well as a skin while making the actual skinning 'invisible'. I probably succeeded most in Sum of Parts. For someone who knows winamp reasonably well, it's quite easy to use, yet it has what I think is a very free-form and pleasantly unrestricted feel to it. well ill put my skin in. its called the Four Horsemen after the name of the song by Metallica. I know its not amazing but i do think its one of the better Metallica skins out there. I plan on changing it soon, fixing up the playlist and especially changing the stacks, remaking almost all of the buttons and basically making it more original. but im going to wait until i finish that highway skin before i do this. i only like to be doing one project at a time. anyway, here it is

As my favourite skin is currently unpublished because of some legal issues
I would throw in this oneIt was the second skin I made, and I used it to check out the WinAmp given technical limits of skinning. Graphically it's very simple. Most of the main buttons, as well as volume and balance are a combination of 3d-ish buttons with different states and display lighting. I'm working on updating this now though, adding the 2.9 windows, and tweaking a few minor things here and there... The description off the site works mostly, but I'd say this is probably my fave I've done because with the exception of a few skins made for others, my main goal is to have a definite "feel" or "mood" expressed, and I think this was the most successful. |

Not Remix Not Rip Not Skinner.exe Crap -------------------------- Influential - One that is of considerable importance or influence: sought the advice of policy influentials; This to me indicated you can utilize another resource (An effect or change produced by influence.) A skin that has been influenced by or of another tangible work. This would require that both workx be available unless the other work (art | thing) is known to all. Does that make sense I sure hope so. |
