Impossible to Find

I want a radio station to run 24-7, but I have a few problems.

- I can't act as the server, since my IP always changes.
- I don't want to DJ it all the time. I just want it to play off of a playlist or something without me having to even have to have Winamp open. Don't get me wrong. I want to DJ SOME of the time, but not 24-7.
- Live365 is the answer to the above problems, but it costs $7 a month. I don't even have a job.

Please help me, if you can. And, please don't post too much in this topic, unless it helps, since I have e-mail notification on.

your SOL it looks like...

try no-ip.com for ip redirection services to solve the ip problem...

Verify how many you can stream to using the stream calculator at http://www.radiotoolbox.com/online_tools/bandwidth.php

Read the FAQ on the top of this forum in relation how how you can DJ some of the time. The Getting started FAQ in particular.

Well, if I wanted to run the server, I'd have to leave the computer on all day and all night for eternity. I just can't do that.

You don't understand. There's a bunch of people with stations on an online game that go around to various places in the game and report news and whatnot. The only difference between what they do and what I want to do is I don't want to have crappy music nobody likes in between newsflashes. I want to have music from the game.

Really, though. How does everyone else do it? I see plenty of 24-hour Shoutcast radios.

we normally have dedicated computers, for example, how is mine 24/7?

I have a dedicated win2003 box streaming using sam2 or winamp and upload to a server i own that broadcasts my signals to thousands of potential listeners. Thats how most of us all normally do it.

i know you didnt ask, i was just telling you, like for example, mine was 24/7...

Ok, basically you need a computer that only sends your signal to your listeners. Then you need to find out how many listeners you can support with the link i provided in my first response. But if you cant do it 24/7 but you expect to stream 24/7, you require an additional computer..

ah. cool. just want to give you a few insiders here. you have competition. and in some cases the competition is far ahead of you. just check www.creekradio.org . I have tried making my own station for TSO before and it flopped due to the competition. unless you got lots of patience, id rethink your strategy here.

Easy! You'll easily get a ton of DJs everyone on TSO wants to be a DJ. Just advertise for a DJ.

Other than that, you need to be looking to shell out some bux. There's no way you'll have a successful station if you're not willing to put some time, effort, and $$ into it.

You're basically asking for someone to do all the work for you, do all of the hosting for you, at no cost to you while you get the glory.

BelieversCove, I have tried advertising on TSO before to get DJ's for my station and only got like 1. the only reason I got more DJ's was he invited some of his non-TSO friends to be DJ's also.

Good point, BelieversCove. But, I'm already paying $10 a month for TSO. $7 a month extra is too much.

my best bet if I were you (if you cant aford a server of your own) is to join an already made station like creek radio. but im thinking you absolutely want your own station.
