how can i figure out what kind of memory i have?

im looking to upgrade my memory on my dell but have no idea what kind it takes. is there something on the computer that states this?

ram or hard drive?
if its ram it should say on the side
PCxxxx (x being whatever)
if its hard drive..it dont matter(as long as its at least 80 gigs )

It's probably sdram or ddr sdram, although if you're running a P4 you may be using rdram. Open the case and take a look, or download and run aida32, go to motherboard > chipset, and take a look at what ram is installed now.

Or just post your motherboard brand & model and i'll let you know what ram can be used in it.

Why 80 gigs?

Try plugging a SATA or SCSI drive into a PATA controller, then tell me it doesnt matter what type of drive it is.

[edit] oh, if you're going to be reusing the stick that's currently in there, it's usually a good idea to get the same brand.
