Final Fantasy Online

i emailed squaresoft asking if it would be free to play (hahahahah) or would we have to pay for it per month... here is the reply i got.
Quote:
Dear Customer:

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail us. Final Fantasy XI for Windows
is scheduled for release late October. FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows will
include the Rise of the Zilart expansion pack, which was released
separately in Japan in April 2003. FINAL FANTASY XI will carry a suggested
retail price of $49.99 (USD). Aside from Internet service provider access
charges, players will be charged a monthly fee to play FINAL FANTASY XI.
Subscribers will receive their first 30 days of access without charge.
After 30 days, FINAL FANTASY XI will be available on a month-to-month
subscription basis for $12.95 (USD) a month, which includes one character
for FINAL FANTASY XI. Players can create additional characters for an
additional charge of $1.00 (USD) per character, per month. Tetra Masterr,
the wildly popular and addictive mini-game from FINAL FANTASY IX, will
also be included in the package and will be available for $1.00 (USD) per
month.
The system requirements for FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows are as follows:
Windows 98/98 SE/Me/2000/XP, Intelr Pentiumr III 800Mhz or higher, 128 MB
RAM, 6 GB of hard drive space, DirectXr 8.1, DirectXr 8.1 compatible sound
card, CD-ROM drive, keyboard, 56K or faster connection, and NVIDIAr
GeForce video card with 32MB of RAM.

The PlayStation 2 version of FINAL FANTASY XI will be released in
conjunction with the hard disk drive during the 1st quarter in 2004, by
Sony Computer Entertainment America. No pricing information or hardware
specs have been made available for this version of the game. We have no
further information on FFXI at this time. Check the "Latest News" portion
of our website, www.playonline.com, for updates on Final Fantasy XI.
is anyone going to pay the monthly fee? or are there going to be 3rd party servers up within a week of release?

There will be a monthly charge for the PS2 version as well. And you will have to purchase the hard drive for PS2 in order to play it. If you dont already have one you will need to purchase the ethernet/dialup adaptor for your ps2.

So to play this game on Ps2 will be
Adaptor
Harddrive
Game
Monthly Fee

So after your first downpayment of $ashitloadofmoney and regular monthly installments of $toogoddamnmuch you will have bought the right to play the game.

I dunno if you will be able to play final fantasy offline or not.

I also hate how fantasy star online requires both xboxlive service (50 dollars a year which is very resonable) as well as an additional monthly charge of like 10 dollars a month or something.

I'm Back?

You know, I don't know what to say. Why the fuck do they have to do this to me. Ever since I heard of Phantasy Star Online, I was like, "Pfft another gay Everquest copycat." Then when I heard that FF went online I got really frightened because my worst fear is a reality. What if every FF is online? Somebody say it ain't so! Please tell me the next FF isn't online!

actually the "dressing up" is just a variation of the classic final fantasy system.
