That was the KLF indeed, I have many DJ 12" pressings of their stuff that never got released to the public except in microscopic DJ runs, 12" dubplates, DJ only mixes etc etc, including a one sided grey Vinyl edition of "It's grim up north", the original mix that never got commercially released.
The Grid were more chart friendly, dance friendly, but from the same time frame, early 90's, they went off the rails mid 90's producing some utter shite, go look up "swamp thing", bleh., Best stuff they did was "Floataion", very early 90's, great tune, and probably the only time you'll hear Aled Jones singing "walking in the air" mixed into a dance track...
I think they split some time in the late 90's, certainly one of them, Dave Ball, went back to his former double act and started touring with that again, a little band called Soft Cell, you may have heard of them
