Anyone having problems with screamhost servers?

Are the servers down?
I cant seem to connect or send stream to my screamhost server nor can i log onto my server status log in page , nor can i connect to www.screaminghost.com on the internet from my computer which is my server provider!
Is anyone experiencing this problem, or what do you think the problem might be?
It has not been working since the last few days and ive paid for the month already.

Inquire screaminghost. How long has it been down? I'm sure that it's just a temporary downtime.. happens with servers.

This isn't the best place to ask this question.

Though, yes, they are down. I forget who it was, but someone here said they saw on the site earlier that they would be down for awhile. If they are truly a good host (and this doesn't seem like it), they will give the days the server was down to you.

A host down for more 12 hours per month should already set the red flags flying. They had better have a good explanation for the downtime.

Agreed... I don't mean to jump to outrageous solutions, but I'd consider maybe switching hosts?

If host switching is in the means, I suggest Contiga Digital. Not only are they half the price of Nbox, but in September, they had 100% uptime with no faults what so ever.

Well, it's not the place because most people here host their own streams. Let's say you slipped it into a reply, no problem. A whole new post for this isn't the case though, sorry to say. Not a huge problem though, at least you clarified it for others.

DNS service is down. Since their main web site is not IP based, there will be no way to reach it until they resume DNS services.

This is unfortunate to their clients because according to radiotoolbox they give out hostnames to their clients which are now unreachable.

Seems like an easy problem to fix and it's suprising a hostign provider could let something like this slide so long. The only logical explanation that comes to mind at this point is a lack of server administration skills.

Please feel free to PM me if anyone is looking for solid hosting. I am not going to use this opportunity to spamvertize any hosts in this thread like others have already done.

Do not take the hop just yet, click on the link i posted and contact them by phone or fax. if they can't resume what you have paid for, consider doing a chargeback. Do not allow these sort of hosts to get away with it.

more than 12 hours of downtime per month is totally unacceptable.

If they were in my native country, they would have got into alot of trouble by now.

Edit: do not bother emailing them. Their DNS won't resolve, hence your mail will go nowhere.

got this email from rick today, just a matter of connecting to your stream via the ip number instead of the screaminghost address - the only catch is if most of your listeners have got your screaminghost address instead of the ip or if you uploaded the screaminghost address to your site means you will have to change it to your ip or just use no-ip in the future.. just makes things time consuming

Dear Clients,

My apologies for the delay this email. As you all should know by now we
are currently having severe issues with our data center.

Our data center has for some silly (unkown reason yet) deleted our domain
from their DNS server. This resulted in that any hostname such as
tori.screaminghost.com and also our email is currently unaccsible. We have
been aware of this since last friday however i was traveling back to the
UK from Portugal last morning i wasnt able to resolve this issue. The data
center is aware of this and they are currently working on the situtation.

Your server should still be accesible by changing the hostname to the ip in
your account email such as:

http://tori.screaminghost.com:8000/ to http://67.15.6.63:8000/ the DNAS
Control panel should also be still accesible at http://67.15.6.63/dnascp/

If anyone is experiencing any problems with accessing their server using
the IP address please let me know as during this outage we are unable
to use our email.

My apolgoies for any inconvenience.

Best wishes,

Rick
