make a private server for me and my friends

hello, i know this is probably a noobie question but i just got my server up and running so i am a noob. I want to keep my bandwidth as LOW as i can so i don't want everyone in the world to have access to my station. so how do i make it so my server is only accessable to people i give the address of my "listen" link too. right now as it stands my server is very public. i see it on the list of shoutcast servers and i know i don't want it there. i saw a line in my cfg file that says:
Public server=default
so if i change "default" to "never" what am i actually doing if i make this change???

so what do i do??? please help if you can.

thanks in advance for your help
mike

On your DSP Plugin, go to the Output tab and uncheck the box that says

[ ] "Make this server public (Recommended)"

Well since to enable the publis server the text has to read "public" so at a guess any other text will rever this back to the default value. Try setting it to "hidden"

To lock up your DNAS further, enable RIP mode and add your friends ips to the reserved ip list.

Check out the DNASs sc_serv.ini/conf configuration file for the section (default shown below):
code:
; RIPOnly, when set to Yes, will only allow IP addresses listed in the Reserved
; IP list to connect and relay. All other connections for listening will be denied.
; This is really only useful for servers whose sole purpose is to provide the
; primary feed to all public relays. Setting this value to Yes also forces the
; server into Private mode, since listing this server in the directory would
; be pointless. Default is No.
; RIPOnly=No
