yet another on-demand question...........
hello, i have spent the whole morning reading the forums, the F.A.Q.'s, and every website i could find and i can't figure this damn thing out. after all this i assume i am mis-understanding the instructions.
1)i fixed the shortcut(s) target line to point to the right place 2)my contemt line in sc_serv.ini reads: ContentDir=C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\content\ no (;) in front of it 3)i moved all my mp3's in to the content directory 4)i restarted my server now here's the thing if i open winamp and go to open location and put in: http://my ip:8000/content/scpromo.mp3 or open my web browser and put in the URL: http://67.87.92.18:8000/content/scpromo.pls the promo file plays in both situations BUT thats all that plays. none of the other files in the folder automatically play. i was under the impression when i read the instructions that the DNAS would automatically make a playlist file. so what i thought was that after the promo file plays (like it does) it would then start playing the other mp3 files in the directory automatically. am i wrong??? if i am not why is just the promo file playing and nothing else??? can anyone help me understand?? thanks mike |

It automatically makes a playlist file that contains one entry pointing to a file with the same name as pls file. e.g. scpromo.pls is a playlist of one file pointing to scpromo.mp3. The behaviour you describe is shoutcast working exactly as it should. It works this way because if you put a link in a webpage to the mp3 file the browaser tries to download the mp3 rather than streaming it. If you want to load a list of on-deamnd tracks into winamp (or whatever) you need to manually create a playlist file in a format of your choice (m3u, pls or whatever) that points to all the individual MP3 files you want it to create (do not create a playlist file that points to a list of PLS files as this will not work). Shoutcast DOES NOT automatically create a playlist file for all the files in the contentdir and there is now way you can make it do this.
