Official Winamp 5.0 Modern Skin Colour Themes Thread - Page 4

Hi Folks,

somebody mentioned Winamp3b with color controls? I dug around a little and found it at my HDD. As I had it brandnew some years ago I made a colortheme very similar to this and now tried to put it at winamp5. But I'm no real "skinner" and fumbled around at this about three days and still don't think I finished it. So who thinks who can make this theme better - please do it! (I hope you are not shocked with this colour-composition and my english)

Another thing I'd like to have at winamp5 would be a coloured Display Beat Visualisation similiar to this screenshot from Winamp3...

I just downloaded that "theme pack" and I am rather dissapointed

Here is why:
1) The directory that he gives doesn;t exist, am I supposed to create it?

2) The "Display" tags are missing from EVERY Color theme!!!

3) It was a pain in the ass to get working, I had to delete 3 or 4 lines from the top, and the very last line as well.

Finnaly, perhaps you should read the existing xml files to get the right format. Grrrr...

1. Yep, you need to create that directory

2. what is the display tag supposed to do? all the colorisers did was follow Will's instructions on the first page

3. It worked perfectly for me without messing with the xml file

Hmmm... Ok, well I guess I will try in that way.

And the problem I had was that the color of the region where the file currently playing is displayed/scrolled in the main window never changes color.

I have yet to try it by creating that directory.

That is extrememly odd - i reccomend uninstall - reinstall then add the themes again to see if your install of winamp 5 is bad in some way.

Another thing to check would be under preferences>skins>modern skins>internationalization tab cause fiddling around in there caused my song ticker to change to all sorts of things - maybe a different charmap encoding may help... (though i can't see how that would funk things up that wierd...)

I used that theme pack without any problems. I'm gonna redownload it right now to check...

WOW!!! That is funked up!!! I'm getting almost the same problems - I don't have the color in hex in my song ticker but the ticker won't change colors in any of the themes (i replaced my current color themes xml with the one from the zip) I had to remove the xml headder at the top and the abstraction layer tag at the bottom and even then the file was bad!

Every single theme seems to be missing the "DisplaySongtickerBG", DisplayVis", "DisplayBeatVis", "DisplaySongticker", "DisplaySongtickerShade" tags...

I can't think of why all of them were are missing...

EDIT: Sorry - looks like i am missing those tags also in my regular presets file also - i think it was caused by difference between beta 1 and 2. Presets made for beta 1 will have that blue songticker while ones made for beta 2 will have the proper colors.

I never noticed 'cause I mainly only use my own color themes...

Umm Yeah, like I said, there are about 3 or 4 lines missing. And they are missing from the template given on the forum. I can't wait for the final, Supposedly there is supposed to be a color editor comming out for that.

Look out for a colour theme editor crashbug, save often!

Editing a cloned theme with RC9, using Color Editor 2.0.2, auto-apply is on, change a few items around, toggle the saturate options a bit, boom, script assertion error. Can't click the ok or cancel buttons, can't do anything to winamp, tho it will continue playing.

The Color Editor seems to have a bad habit of sticking periods where they don't belong and therefore breaking the .xml file. I have updated the Coagulated theme with some of Mike's changes and a few last second changes. I will attach it to another post.

Germ's updated "Coagulated" doesn't include /all/ my changes. I've fixed mine (removed the broken '.') to make my Coagulated - Remix work properly. Slightly different to Coagulated.

I noticed that there were no colorthemes with dark text on bright display.
So I tried to make some, and here are the results.
It is a little weird, that if the display color gets bright but not whte it looks more like 2 colors cluttered together than one smooth...
This creamy thing was about the best I could get.

If someone uses one of the golden themes I posted earlier, their scrollbars are supposed to be golden. Thought it wasnt changable, because my version of WinAmp sometimes doesnt change it. Anyways.. for golden scrollbars replace the original Scrollbar lines with these..

And the problem I had was that the color of the region where the file currently playing is displayed/scrolled in the main window never changes color. I have yet to try it by creating that directory. Why make something idiot proof?? Someone will only make a better idiot!

EAK125 Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2001 Location: State of Denial Posts: 129	That is extrememly odd - i reccomend uninstall - reinstall then add the themes again to see if your install of winamp 5 is bad in some way. Another thing to check would be under preferences>skins>modern skins>internationalization tab cause fiddling around in there caused my song ticker to change to all sorts of things - maybe a different charmap encoding may help... (though i can't see how that would funk things up that wierd...) I used that theme pack without any problems. I'm gonna redownload it right now to check... I'm getting almost the same problems - I don't have the color in hex in my song ticker but the ticker won't change colors in any of the themes (i replaced my current color themes xml with the one from the zip) I had to remove the xml headder at the top and the abstraction layer tag at the bottom and even then the file was bad! Every single theme seems to be missing the "DisplaySongtickerBG", DisplayVis", "DisplayBeatVis", "DisplaySongticker", "DisplaySongtickerShade" tags... I can't think of why all of them were are missing... EDIT: Sorry - looks like i am missing those tags also in my regular presets file also - i think it was caused by difference between beta 1 and 2. Presets made for beta 1 will have that blue songticker while ones made for beta 2 will have the proper colors. I never noticed 'cause I mainly only use my own color themes... I can't wait for the final, Supposedly there is supposed to be a color editor comming out for that. Why make something idiot proof?? Someone will only make a better idiot!

Germ rules all things Join Date: Jan 2001 Posts: 3,148	The Color Editor seems to have a bad habit of sticking periods where they don't belong and therefore breaking the .xml file. I have updated the Coagulated theme with some of Mike's changes and a few last second changes. I will attach it to another post. Last edited by Germ; 21st November 2003 at 13:58.
