I Have Had Enough!!!!
I have had it with all this AOL and MS bashing shit!!
DISCLAMER: I am not defending nor supporting either company. The following rant is only my opinion. My bone-to-pick is this: 1) Every one picks on the big guy. 2) I am kinda glad that AOL bought winamp, Why? Because winamp has improved leaps and bounds since AOL came on board. 3) Does any one out there acctuall have a clue as to how hard it is to write 1 or 2 MILLION PLUS LINES OF CODE that create an OS. Not to mention, for every unique computer out there there is a unique configuration. it is not feasable, nor possible to predict who is going to use or it how it will be used. 4) MS and AOL are probably worth more than any 100 of us forumites put together, so who's laughing thier way to the bank? ![]() 5) Ya, I use Win XP Pro, and I have had a few problems, but so far I have to give MS a pat on the back, because despite the security issues ( which the only REAL way fix is via a hardware router/Firewall, and some software) XP is pretty stable. And eye candy. 6) Back to number 3. I can't stress enough how incredible it is that os like XP even work. But lets not forget all the hard work that went into it. I am a programming student (1st year) and I can already see how hard it could be to "keep-up" an OS. 7) MS is rich, wait Bill Gates is FUCKING RICH, the company is worth a bunch too. So don't be surprised when they make a mistake, they can afford to. *and breathe* I am done for now, but I am sure I will think of something else. Why make something idiot proof?? Someone will only make a better idiot! |

Hey, WhiteRayven you are 100% right!
People will use (enjoy?) thier service but won't be frank 'bout it..........rather love to critisize, its not fair! But who needs to listen to them?they can't help but using that products...........afterall. And do you think the company cares 'bout it?Not at all. They have thousands of work to do.So you'ld better not listen to them, too.ok? All pop music is good music but all good music isn't pop music ![]() Wanna know more about pop music or my boy-bands? Westlife / Backstreet Boys / Savage Garden / NSync / Michael Learns to Rock |

Sure, the financial backing provided by AOL helped ensure the survival of Winamp, and I'm very grateful for that, but to say that Winamp has improved "leaps" and "bounds" since AOL bought it is more than a bit of an overstatement. |

They fired Bill. I'll never forgive AOL for that.

AOL is under the false impression that everyone actually wants to use their software to access the internet, when in reality there are much better alternatives.

I don't care for AOL and MS because I know what happens next when they get their hands on something, bloated buggy software. When corporations get too huge they stop focusing on making a great product and put all their attention into covering their ass.
Notice I didn't say I hate them. MS makes great software although you have to wait till the zillionth update for it to work well. AOL's internet access is.... hmmm, can't think of anything good to say about them. |

I really don't have anything good to say about AOHell. My experience with them was less than wonderful (and that's being nice). I had better luck going with a local ISP until I got broadband.
As far as MS is concerned... I had my problems with Win98, but who didn't? I never tried WinME because everyone I knew had nothing but problems with it! I've been using WinXP Pro, and haven't come across any major problems that I couldn't fix myself. Of course, it didn't hurt that I already had experience with Win2K, and bought a big fucking book written especially for WinXP. I think every O/S is going to have its own quirks and problems. It all depends on what you're going to do with your computer, and your level of experience.

I disagree with every point you make, however it is not correct disagreement, just opinionated disagreement. For example, eye candy is nothing to me wheras functionality is everything in a computer.

Well, we all know how opinionated you are, Raz. It's one of your more endearing qualities!
However, I will agree that functionality is important. I guess I just like eye candy, too.

2) How is that? 3) Um, lots of people do. Particularly the guys who have poured millions of lines into Linux. 4) They are. MS because Bill did a lot of nasty things to get there. 5) So after 10+ years they finally have a relatively stable O/S. 6) Um - wait. There are other O/Ses who have less support, but are more stable. 7) Yeah, yes, they can. Due to pushing all of the small guys out of the market, and various other nasty things Bill did.
