Light a Match......Extinguish a Life

Incredible!

While the southern California wildfires rage on, it's now disclosed that one of the major fires was started by a lost deer hunter who lit a signal fire in hopes of getting attention. Think he got their attention?
NASA photo of the fires

How can someone intentionally light fires that eventually cost people not only their homes but their lives, as well?

I've heard that 13 people were burned to death already. Wonderful how the average Joe usually ends up dead and the assholes tend to be alive.

I am so important I feel the need to let it be known like a liberal discovering the internets for the first time. Uh hur hur hur. I also wash myself with a rag on a stick.

The same thing happened in Arizona a couple years ago, if I remember correctly. Some fuckwit got lost and lit a fire thinking it would get someones attention. Yeah, it got a lot of attention all right.
And how about that fucktard bitch that set the Hayman fire here in Colorado last year? Yeah, sure...you were just burning a letter from your husband...IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FOREST DURING FIRE SEASON!

That's not the image I hoped for.
NBC news had a shot where all the smoke gathered over the coast and out to sea. Was an incredible picture that I regret I couldn't find for you

We had bad fires here in Fla. a few years ago, I forget but I believe they were started by kids, The season didn't have much rain and they lasted for a while, When you walked outside it was horrible. My mom's house was at risk, cause the fires were out her back yard. Luckily I don't think there many deathes and only a few injuries.

I've been c0rrupted in a world of make.believe.

There are two others suspected of being arson or murder in this case. They are pursuing two individuals in one fire. The SOUTHERN MOST fire was caused by the hunter.

2 of the 3 fires are suspected of arson. The San Diego fire was the dumbass hunter, the San Bernadino fire was suspected to be set by a couple of white guys in a Chevy van, and the Simi Valley fire is a natural fire. I'm closest to the Simi Valley one. Craploads of ash and cinder falling here in Ventura.

I live closest to the one set by the moron hunter. I shot this pic from my backyard yesterday:

That's the smoke of thousands of eucalyptus trees and hundreds of houses going up in flames. My wife and I drove through the area, as much as we could, tonight, and there were still spots that had embers still glowing. The fire moved really quickly. The picture doesn't really do the fire justice - the smoke seemed much blacker and more ominous.

Today there was a blanket of reddish smoke over the whole area - we didn't see blue sky all day. There is ash in our street like a fine dusting of snow.

I'm good thanks Chev. I was listening on the radio today and they are actually turning away donations at the stadium - where about 5,000 displaced people are - because they have more than enough already. It's nice to see people pull together.

We were fortunate in that we never had to leave our house. My brother-in-law and his fiance were told they had one hour to evacuate at one point, but the fire switched course and they could stay. They were in the San Bernadino fire up north of here.

The guy was especially moronic considering the forecast for temperatures in the 90's to 100's, less than 10% humidity and winds at 40 mph. Dumbass.

Thanks randman - the weather forecast is looking up - cooler, more humid, less wind.

Unfortunately many, if not all, the people who lost their lives so far were people who disregarded the warnings to evacuate and stayed behind.

Things can be replaced. Lives cannot.

Thanks ShyShy.

That just amazes me when people decide to disregard their safety for the material issues. Call it a parent's instinct, whatever, but the first and ONLY thing I'll worry about grabbing is the rugrat. She definitly cannot be replaced.

Eet's up to Ahnold to poot owt dat fiyah!

We'll gladly donate the snow that we're sure to get in the next few days. As a matter of fact, Colorado has sent 2 C130's, 2 firetrucks and 15 firefighters so far. I'm sure we'll send more once we're sure that relief is here for our own dry conditions.

Yep, that's the problem - more fires could hit somewhere else. Didn't the fires in Arizona go on for weeks a few years ago?

Ahnold isn't the Governor yet. Ol' Gray was trotting around town today, enjoying his last few days as boss, sidestepping the fact that there have been 2 C130's sitting at Pt. Mugu for the last few days as the fires raged.

The good news is, no work today - fire is burning on the road to my work. The bad news is I won't get paid.

FYI, I live in Costa Mesa- its plush. And I mean that in a "Very well watered next to the beach, I'm not afraid of the big bad fire" sort of way. I laugh in the face of it. Before it gets to my house it would have to go through South Coast Plaza and the Largest Ikea on this Hemisphere.

I dare the wildfire to even try! The entire city would scramble if it even got a couple miles away from the Ikea.

In any case, the sunset is deep volcanic red, and my car is covered with a blanket of ash every morning- I say, it's like living in Pompeii- without the boiling volcanic ash drowning your screaming body part.

Holy timing from hell!

Our local weather babe was just doing the weather from a fire station, where the firemen were showing her all the equipment and outfitting her in the gear when guess what?

They got a call that a house was burning!

They stripped her ass from the gear in record time then had to swap the gear to a real firefighter. Freakin' COOL!

That's sad to hear. Some people were away from their homes when it happened and weren't allowed to get back to their pets. There was a shot on TV of a pug standing out on a sidewalk after fires blazed through his neighborhood - hopefully the news crew grabbed him.

We had a plan to get our animals out. Pets and pictures and some financial info - screw the rest.

(And thanks for the water Widdy - it goes down smooooth)

I think he should just be locked up in the same cell as the guy who started our giant fires 10- just as bad as this- years ago. A homeless man started a bonfire in the middle of dead desrt brush, so he could keep warm.

I work in tech support and last night a guy called in and this was the call after I did my opening script:

Man: "Yah I can't connect to the DSL"
Me: "Alright I apoligize for any...." Me getting cut off
Man: "Oh uh...I live in California and the fire is only a mile or so from my house so is this gonna take long?"
Heres where I put it on mute and laughed
Me: "Well sir I dont know how long it would take but if your life could be in danger I suggest we disconnect."
Man: "But I want my DSL working!"
Man: "I guess I could call back in...bye."

Moron

I came for the hatred.
I stayed for the ballbag.
