Test my live scanner
Ok click here to test my live scanner. I'm posting this post here, because some people are having problems connecting to this, and some are not. Some say it's all static...and the volume is very low. Can you test this, and e-mail me at flyfishingpi@aol.com or post a reply here.

Please post a link to your DNAS, not your ram file.

Everyone can connect to my ram file, but no one can hear it. It plays, but no sound. Any ideas?

Mahalo for the DNAS link.
I'm able to connect to your DNAS at 80kbps 22kHz mono. I am not hearing any sound. What is the Winamp/DSP combo input type? If soundcard, are the soundcard mixers setup? Do you need 80kbps for a scanner broadcast? Your DNAS went down while I was connected. |

Ok if you goto http://www.scanthis.com
and from the dropdown menu click "live scanner" it should open my live scanner feed in realplayer. Can you hear anything now? |

I locked it on one of the 7 weather freqs.
So this way you should hear something whenever you connect to it

Scan,
I'm kind of having the same problem with my live scanner...everything seems to be setup correctly AND I can hear the scanner through my speakers...but nothing is getting sent out. I've connected to shoutcast and maintained a 12hr connection but all it hears is dead air. I've used a combination of different shoutcast inputs/linerec v. linein, etc. At one time, I finally was able to get the sound level meters to start working (thinking I had finally found the combo) but alas, Festerhead couldn't hear anything. (thanks Fest) Keep me posted as to what you find. My feed is down now as I'll be at class the next three days and won't have time to tinker. I'll post ALL my info Thurs. night. Maybe someone will help me figure this out.Good Luck, VacaSteve |

you posted this:
Still nothing. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is the Winamp/DSP combo input type? If soundcard, are the soundcard mixers setup? Do you need 80kbps (now 56kbps) for a scanner broadcast? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Winamp/DSP combo input type = WinAMP input if your talking about the shoutcast source input settings. I lowered the kbps to 24kbps. This is better, right? On the WinAMP itself....when it's playing...do I make all the settings in the green or the red? I mean all the way up, or down? Middle? I press play on WinAMP, and the AVS window comes up. Do I need to leave the AVS window open? Or close it, and have winamp continue playing? |

Within the shoutcast source under the INPUT. I made it say WINAMP, but under it theres a box outlined, and insde it says Winamp input: nothing yet? Am I missing something?

If you're not playing a playlist of mp3s, put your WInamp/DSP combo in soundcard input type.

Under the volume control in Windows, you have to click options -> properties -> recording -> ok and make sure you have line in or mic selected, depending on where you have it plugged in. Also in the DSP, you need to put the proper settings in under the input tab. Hope this helps.
