GameCube goes online.
http://www.warppipe.com/
The alpha version of WarpPipe, an online tunneling tunneling service, recently launched and has been confirmed to run at a full 55-60 frames per second. Games being supported include 1080: Avalanche, Kirby's Air Ride and... drum roll please... Mario Kart: Double Dash! To get it to work you need a GC, broadband adapter, router and broadband connection.I've got everything except the GC broadband adapter so far, but as soon as it gets here, wooo! I'm so frickin' excited to try this out.

I'd be more worried about the overall quality of the game than whether or not it can be connected to the internet. Most of the best all-time video games are single player and two player games. That's not to say that online support for video games is a bad idea... on the contrary, actually. But for me, I don't see the need for a true game console to require internet connectivity.

The quality of the single player game is very important to me also, I just look at online play as icing on the cake. And since it's written in stone somewhere that Nintendo's next Mario Kart offering will be awesome, being able to play someone outside of my circle of freinds makes it that much cooler.

I do not see online games as important at all for consoles. That is why I have a computer with a cable connection.
Consoles for me, are more single player, or friends over and play. Sure it would be cool to play mario kart with people online, but I dont feel it as a necesity. Then again, I have been neglecting my poor poor gamecube in the face of the ever addicting Diablo 2. |

I don't have any games installed on my computer. All my gaming needs are addressed by my entertainment center, which houses multiple game consoles.

good one godoncrack! Yet how very true.
ScYtH, if you know anything about computers, you could make a computer just as good, for a lot less, and just dont get a Nvidia based graphics card. But really... if you have broadband and dont do heavy downloading, and dont game, what is the point? And personaly I dont want to run an ethernet,... oh who am I kidding? My gamecube is less then 3 foot away from the wirless router with lan ports... I just dont... oh damn, If I get the games, and cand find a cheap network addapter, who am I kidding, I will use this.... |
