New winamp user- few questions
Hi...my first post here...
Just started using Winamp3 after dumping Musicmatch... The Basics... approx 5000 mp3's...all in one folder...D:\MP3 P3-500 W2K fully patched on board soundcard for now Klipsch THX 2.1 How do I rip CD's with Winamp???...do you use some outside ripper, if so, what are the recommends??? If I use an outside ripper, how do I get the ripped mp3's into the library??? When I set Winamp up and moved my MP3's into the library, it failed to recognize about 400 mp3's...they do NOT show up in the library...but the actual mp3 file is sitting in my Windows Explorer folder...I can fire it off from the folder, but not from within Winamp...any thoughts why Winamp won't recognize those files??? Is there an equalizer???...if so where is it??? I also use Sony's minidisc format, ATRAC3...When I use Sony's SonicStage to set up some MP3's to transfer over to ATRAC3, Sony will ID those MP3's, will this action then render Winamp from NOT recognizing those MP3's...(I hope I explained this is clearly)... Thanx for the help Steve |

Try the CDRipper plugin for Winamp3 from Poikosoft: http://www.poikosoft.com. It's a small fee to buy it, but you get a trial version -- and it supports Ogg Vorbis (I highly recommend using Ogg over MP3), MP3, and WAV. I really like it.

for your #5 above...
no, i doubt it. My guess is that it tags the files with it's own id3v2 frame. hopefully, that tag is id3v2.3, which winamp3 recognizes, and not id3v2.4, which it will not (is that correct Sawg?). You can make a copy of a file, convert it to atrac, and see if it loads the id3 in wa3. if not, delete it, and never do it again. ![]() I also suggest that you don't need to keep those atrac files, since they will be of lower quality than the mp3's they came from (as with converting between any two lossy formats). ~WHREEamI |
